Sqeaking Noise from 403 motor

The closest thing I could compare the noise to is squeaking belts, but it isn't the belts. It looks like it could be the carburetor or somewhere in that area. Are there any tips or suggestions to fixing this problem?

vacumm leak..

take some wd-40 and spray the manifold and carp gasket areas.. if the engine picks up rpm you found it

Alright, will do. It sqeaks when you stab the throttle down, but if you gently get on it it wont make noise. Could I also use carb cleaner to test it?

failing water pumps can also make that kind of noise, and any pulley/accesories that have bad bearings.

I don't think it is anything belt related. I heard it directly from the carb area..... belts were the first thing I thought of, but it wasn't coming from there

Thrust on a main bearing will squeek if its damaged or worn out. Listen to the lower block with a long screwdriver to your ear. If it gets louder its internal.

I'm having the same issue with mine right now. Apparently it's the tranny making the squeel? :question: I've replaced my water pump, idler and tensioner pullies. :mad:

basicly anything that is a flamable spray, crab/brake, either, wd-40.

if it sqeaks while reving it i doubt it is the intake... and would be a drive realated item.. unless you ahve located the general area that it is coming from. which you said the carb area..check the vac booster line, pcv line, carb gasket... i would check the manifodl bolts as well.. if they are 6 point head try getting another 1/4 turn tighter or just flat re-torque the heads..

carb gasket is a good culprit as well

One more to think about... Oldsmobile engines, post 195* thermostats, have trouble with the two center push rods getting full of caked up oil. This can lead to a nice, rhythmic, squeak. It won't be a constant squeak though.
