Wow I just went to the beginning if this thread and saw that you started it back in 2008. Bob I have to give you an A + for the tenacity to stick to your project and vision for that long as you have and not lose your enthusiasm. Many mere mortals would have walked away a long time ago. Great progress on the car but my hats off to you as an individual

BTW, same thing could be said about many guys on this forum!

I don't really have a pic but it's a Rick tank and the fuel filler was cut and rerouted into the trunk and some stainless tubing welded on to mate to the fuel filler kneck

Car was put on hold for a bit, while the crew at Mortenson's Custom touch paint, was working on finishing a SEMA project. They started back on my car this week. They primed the car one last time and the car is now on the rotisserie. They will be working at seam sealing everything, clean the frame and work the firewall, then bedliner the bottom and paint the frame and firewall.
Then they will paint the car. How long? I don't know?

It's like the most expensive Ferrari color money can buy.... It's a new hybrid quadruple color process where a guy has to place each fleck of metallic by hand.

Beautiful isn't it?!?!?!

If anyone has ever seen Jason Mortenson's work they know he is one of the top body & paint guys out there. He just hasn't gotten the recognition he deserves. He has 2 riddler winners under his belt.
I do have to thank Tim Bruning for introducing us. Tim really pushed me to have Jason paint my car. Tim knew of his work ethic and work quality from when he worked at Steve's (SAR). Jason really is one of the nicest guys you'll meet also. I know that good things will happen out of his shop in the future. Just look at his Mortenson's custom touch facebook page and the cars they are working on.

I plan on taking this to as many shows I can. I also want to do HotRod power tour.

Going to re-do some of the brake lines as they aren't up to my current standards. They were done 9 years ago, and they were done a pit sloppy and you can tell, when you look at how nice the fuel lines are.

So Like I said in earlier posts.
I changed the brake lines around, they were done about 9 years ago, and they just didn't look good when you looked at the Fuel lines Tim ran for me.

I put a wilwood proportioning valve in. Its a neat little unit, it makes it clean and easy. It also gave me another reason start changing the lines.

http://www.automotivedesigneng.com/gallery/camaro/IMG_2839.JPG

Then of course I looked at the wilwood cover and it looked too Blah...
So I designed up a new one and machined it.

Not easy building a killer UNIQUE 69 Camaro these days.

Serious question Bob... how many different color schemes did you go through in your head over the years before arriving at this one.

Love it.

Its really not that Unique, its just a 69 Camaro with some mild custom touches. Nothing that hasn't been seen before. I wish I had the funds to really build something unique.

As far as color schemes go since day one I wanted silver. I was going to do a silver like the Mule. That is what got me into pro-touring. Then as the YEARS went by I started to like the darker silver tones. I saw a Nissan GTR at a local cruise (Beaches) and liked the way the color flopped. That's what I stuck with.
Every Camaro I have built I have painted the motor red. I'm not crazy about the Chevy orange. If I had painted the car a light silver I would have painted the engine bright red. Since I went with a much darker silver gray. I wanted the motor to be a dark red.
Where I work we have a full paint facility and I get to see a lot of the current colors as parts come off the line. One day I walk past a bin of parts being tossed in the trash all a dark Ford Ruby Red (2014 F150). I ask the paint manager what's up and he said they were having problems with the ruby red its a candy color and its not matching the factory paint. The paint manufacture was working on a new formula and they were waiting for it. He was going to also toss out gallons of this paint out also. I asked him if I could have it. I was going to do a matte finish anyways, and I didn't have to match any body panels. He gave me the paint.
That's how I came up with the paint scheme.
