I still have a bit to do on both sides and then I hope to start wrapping them all with sheet metal.

I also got some seat sliders for the front seats. I really wanted to try and keep the power sliders, but at almost 3" high, it makes the seats sit way too high in the car.

Come on over and you can even help!!

Well it's been a couple months since I've updated, so I thought I better do one. Unfortunately haven't gotten much actually done on the car. Things around the house and overtime shifts have gotten in the way. I hope to get a few productive days in though over the next few weeks as I will be on holidays for a bit.

Did get a few new sweet parts though. Thanks Matt at MCB!!

Very cool Mike! Interesting to see the difference between your Nova model and my F body. You have the headlight buckets in the core support. Also, they stopped selling the Maradyne controller. I like the DD you have better

Thanks Ron. I think they still offer the Maradyne one. It's still listed on their product list. I just liked the idea of the LED display better.

Have you had a chance to mock up the driveshaft loop? Currently in the market for one myself, and was curious how this one worked out?

All I can say is looking at the AutoRad Core Support & Radiator makes me want one really really really bad.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance yet. I don't see an issue though. I'll just need to cut the bracket where it mounts to the trans cross member. I actually got the idea of using it from a member's car on another forum. Here's a link to his website where he has a pic of it installed: http://barman.shawwebspace.ca/pages/view/transmissiondrive_line/

I'm really happy I decided to go this route. It's a work of art. I can't decide now if I'm going to paint the support body color or leave it as is.

Time for an update. Cleaned up the shop a bit so I was able to get a better pic of the rad and rad support.

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0169_zps091dc757.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0169_zps091dc757.jpg.html)

I've been slowing working on replacing the tail light panel.....again. When I put the first one in, I completely forgot to check the fit of the tail lights. Of course they didn't fit right and there was a huge gap. I also didn't like the way the truck aligned so here's where I'm at with that.

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0174_zpsbd97f02a.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0174_zpsbd97f02a.jpg.html)

I got tired of working on the tail light panel, so I decided to get my front seats installed.

In a previous post, I stated that I used the existing holes in the bottom of the GTO seats to put the seat sliders. The thing I forgot to do, was to actually measure and make sure they were parallel. They weren't.

There was 1/2" difference between the top of the sliders and the bottom. So I had to drill new holes

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0193_zps33299628.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0193_zps33299628.jpg.html)

And welded in the old ones

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0194_zpscc7ec347.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0194_zpscc7ec347.jpg.html)

Another thing I ended up doing was replacing the bucket seat floor brackets. I cut the stock studs off and welded bolts onto the ones that I had already installed. I did this when I thought I could use the power tracks for the seats. So I cut out the old brackets and put in news ones.

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0172_zps18ab4218.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0172_zps18ab4218.jpg.html)

I replaced all the stock studs with grade 8 bolts, but they are in the stock location. If anyone needs a set of bucket seat floor brackets, I now have an extra set that I will sell. I need to do some clean up on them to get rid of the bolts I welded on.

Next I made some brackets to mount the seats to the floor

Reinforced them and painted them black

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0217_zpsec73f170.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0217_zpsec73f170.jpg.html)

And with the seats finally in place, I had to modify the front console. I've been asked a few times why I chose to make the console out of round bar. Here's one big reason why. Very easy to change if needed.

I must say, it was pretty cool to sit in the driver's seat again. I think it's the first time I've done that in about 12 years.

On a side note, I'm still looking for a pair of driver's side door hinges if anyone can help me out. I really wanted to use some stock ones and rebuild them, but I might end up having to buy some Goodmark ones.

I've also been wanting to buy a mountain bike for a few years. Finally got one

Great work Mike. I have 5 bikes, and work in the industry. It's a helluva a bad (but so fun & good) hobby to have when you have yet another pastime that is also hugely time-consuming.. damn decisions...

Awesome!!

Bought a mountain bike last week -- full suspension -- even looked at the brand you bought but ended up with a Trek Remedy 8 15.5" frame on 26" wheels.... I'm SHORT! Okay!

Updates?

Unfortunately no. Life has gotten in the way and haven't had an opportunity to spend any time in the shop for a while now. A few of the days that I could have gone out, it was so cold that it would have taken it a couple hours to warm up the shop so didn't bother. Hope to get out there in the next couple weeks then off to Phoenix for three weeks on a course through work.

Well it's been way too long with an update. I don't have much to update, but at least it's progress. Unfortunately the past winter I didn't get much at all done. Sucks when life gets in the way. The winter here was colder than normal and when it takes an hour to warm up the shop just to get it comfortable, it's hard to get motivated. Along with the weather and a few other things, didn't make it out to the shop much at all. I hope to try and play catch up now.

Last fall I bought a new rotisserie. I should have name this project Redo as it seems I keep redoing alot of it.

The end of February I got to spend three weeks in Phoenix on a work course. Being on expenses everyday is great. Also a great way to buy some parts. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to their shop as I was in course during their business hours. New trunk hinges from Fesler

I also decided that I was done trying to find good stock hinges to rebuild. I had no problem finding passenger side ones, but I could not find driver's side ones that were not worn out alot. So I decided to buy new ones from Classic Industries (via Hot Rods and Classics in Chilliwack, BC).

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/IMG_0310_zpsc71caaf0.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/IMG_0310_zpsc71caaf0.jpg.html)

I'm still fighting trying to get the tail light panel right where I want it. Although I think I figured out one of the issues and hope to get that done soon. In the mean time, I thought I'd attack something else so I felt like I was accomplishing something.

I started putting in the DSE subframe connectors. As I normally do, I thought I would take lots of pics so I could do a detailed write up. I haven't seen too many people actually show pics of the entire process. I've seen some comments that these aren't real subframe connectors. The way I look at it is there are a lot of guys out there that know a lot more than I do, or ever will, and they are running these connectors. Their cars are handling amazing and winning so they can't be all that bad :D

Thanks guys.

Time for another update. Like most lately, not a huge update, but it's still progress. Decided to install the Fesler trunk hinges. Thought I'd be better off with the hinges that I'm actually going to use when trying to get everything aligned.

Out with the old ones

Putting the new ones in

Here's what I'll be working on over the next while. Been wanting to do this for a while now. We have 3 cars, a utility trailer and a boat trailer and it's like a game of tetris organizing them. I'm widening the driveway at the top by 20 feet. It will come straight back 25 feet then start to angle toward the bottom of the driveway. At the top we should be able to put 3 cars wide plus both my trailers.

Thanks Joe. Yes I must admit I love living in the area we so. About ten minutes from town but have a third if an acre so lots of room.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten anything done on the car as I have had too much else on the go. I likely won't get much done over the winter either as I have a new project on the go. I know it's not forum related, but most guys seem to have a soft spot for these old trucks. My wife owns a 74 Bronco which belonged to her first husband. It has been sitting since 1996 and has only run once or twice since then that I'm aware of and that was when I got it running to move it out of the shop to the rear of the shop.

Where it has been sitting

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/ffcbb132f82242171a5dbed8740c9c45_zpsfb35f3e3.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/ffcbb132f82242171a5dbed8740c9c45_zpsfb35f3e3.jpg.h tml)

A few weeks ago, a buddy of mine stopped by and offered us 5K for it. We have had so many people stop by and ask if either one were for sale, but the wife never wanted to sell it. We got talking after the offer came in and she wanted to know what it would take to get it running again. I threw some numbers at her and before I knew it she was giving me the go ahead to order parts. She told me she doesn't want to hear about what I'm doing, she just wants it done and she trusts what I'm doing :D

So I spent all my spare time reorganizing the shop to get the Bronco back in there. I've come to realize that I have quite the collection of tools. I got rid of a couple shelving units and added about 25 feet of new shelving higher up and redid a bunch of other stuff.

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/c30203bff8ad71e1dcb14be21c2037ce_zps8be149d5.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/c30203bff8ad71e1dcb14be21c2037ce_zps8be149d5.jpg.h tml)

Then I made a trip to the border and brought back a car load of new goodies

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/798085be71de9e94e17e1f13feebdaf7_zps93ea69cb.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/798085be71de9e94e17e1f13feebdaf7_zps93ea69cb.jpg.h tml)

I spent several hours on Tuesday getting it running. Changed the oil and plugs. Pulled the distributor and primed the pump. I also forgot to mark the distributor before pulling it and found out the hard way that Ford engines are a pain to the distributor in the right spot. I was so grateful for the internet that day. Got it running and back into the shop.

The plans for the truck are as follows:
- I'm going to lift the body off first and put it behind the shop again
- I'm going to be replacing the brakes, suspension, fuel and brake lines as well as pulling the entire drive train so I thought it would be easier to do all that without the body on. Might as well save my back
- I'm going to replace all the gaskets, seals etc on the motor, trans, transfer case and diffs

New stuff to be added:
- 2.5" Bilstein suspension lift
- 1" body lift
- Front disc brake conversion with new Warn premium hubs
- Power booster conversion
- Front sway bar (doesn't have one at all)
- Replace the fuel and brake lines with new nickel copper lines
- All new bearings, seals, etc
- Replacing both fuel tanks and sending units. The front will be poly and the main will be a 23 gallon upgrade

Few details about the truck:
- 351 Windsor, C4 auto trans, D20 transfer case, Dana 44 front and 9' rear

Here's a couple other pics

Havent made as much progress as I was hoping (isn't that always the case though lol). I'll admit though, as nice as it is working on the car with all new parts, it's pretty nice taking parts off, cleaning them, adding some paint and putting them back on. I don't have a up to date pic, but here's the last couple I took:

New rear lift springs in

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd68/scherp69/5d5627387db2779b2698fc236bbd77d8_zpscd38267a.jpg (http://s222.photobucket.com/user/scherp69/media/5d5627387db2779b2698fc236bbd77d8_zpscd38267a.jpg.h tml)

Since taking this pic, Ive cleaned up and painted a bunch of the parts. Have put in new axle joints and started doing the disc brake install. I don't have much left on the suspension then I'll pull the motor and trans and start running the brake and fuel lines. I'm going to rebuild the trans and replace all the gaskets on the motor.

Hey guys remember me. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to update. Since my last update, life, work and finances have gotten in the way of me doing much on the car. Also have been working on the wife's Bronco and have the body back on it and hope to have it running by summer time. One of the big reasons I didn't get much done on my car is I got to a point where I was stuck and didn't know what to do next or how to do it. I usually don't like to ask for help and wanted to try and do as much of the car by myself as I could. Well life isn't getting in the way as much anymore, finances are better and I'm at a point where I want to get back to work on the car.

I got off the phone a short while ago with a guy who is interested in doing some work on my car for me. I'm likely going to get him to finish up the trunk work, get all the panels hung to make it look like a car again and maybe a few other custom things that I want done. I've seen some of the work this guy has done and it is very nice. He also does this as a side job as his main job is he owns a towing company. Makes it even easier to get the car to his shop lol. We will be getting together in the next week or two so he can look over the car and make a plan as to what I want done and when to take it to his shop. I may even get him to paint it when it's ready. I can actually say I'm getting excited again :D:yes:

As others, I feel your pain bro and I too, have felt the same about giving up. I took a break as well from my car. I spent money in other places like on guns and stuff. Just got a bit tired of my car, but I'm getting back on mine too.

I met with the guy who's going to do some work on my car yesterday. He said he's quite picky on the work he takes on as he only wants to work on cars that he's excited to work on. He liked my build 😁 He is just finishing up a new and bigger shop and wants to wait until it is done before taking my car. He hopes to be done in a month or month and half, then my car will be spending some time with him.

It still needs quite a bit of work in the body. The gaps need to be finished up and lots of block sanding, etc. Main thing I wanted to do was get it back looking like a car and now it does. I know that all the panels fit and we won't have any issues when it comes to getting it painted. Next up is to try and get as much done on the car as I can with mechanical, interior, etc. Have already been pricing out parts haha. Order coming soon :)

Well It’s a bittersweet day, but I ended up selling the car today. Sometimes life throws you some curves. I ended up splitting up with my wife about 15 months ago and the reality is I didn’t know when I’d be in a position to work on the car again, so I made the choice to sell it. I can use the cash a lot more than I can a car that’s just collecting dust. So once I am able to buy a new house with a shop, I will get another one. But until then, I plan on enjoying life and working my ass off at work to buy that house. I’ve also cancelled photobucket so the photo unfortunately will disappear lol. Thanks everyone for all the views and comments.

Sometimes things happen in our lives that we can’t understand at that moment. I divorced my first wife years ago. Married my current wife 20+ years ago and now I have two beautiful daughters, a very small dog and a wonderful wife and a really nice garage.

I’m not sure my life with my first wife would be anything like the life I have now. I thankful for the way my life has turned out.

Good luck to you, Mike. Life isn't always easy. I think the greatest thing about it is every day is a new day to start again.
