This is early in the week and the cars are of lower value than on Fri-sat etc but they were bringing big money for what they were. I'm here at the auction and the Monstor garage cars are cool but really really crude, thrown together pieces. Neat to see them though.

seems like there are alot of open seats? but maybe that is typical early in the week?

$58K for the convertible was pretty good money for a basically stock, wrong engine, Big block Camaro with a set of wheels and Covans dash. No brakes, no A/C, No power windows, no trick motor, no overdrive, it is a a clean looking car in pictures, I think it was good money for what it is.

I was going to say the same thing.. good money for that car.

I agree, Frank. Then add on top the buyer's fee (10% I think?) and it really brought a good price, IMO.

The problem with both PT claims is neither have handling upgrades. Prices are still very promising for the value of the lower end market which a lot of people can afford.

Really on the 72 Chevelle?? Don't get me wrong, I though it was a killer car, but it looked like just a nice clean 72 Chevelle (probably the least desirable of the 64-72) with nothing-special enlarged rallye wheels and a $13k crate 572 and a 4l80e. $67k for that??

No disrespect, just curious as to why you think that was a good buy.

96z28ss

I really didn't think that 72 Chevelle was a good deal.
The paint looked great the interior was all stock but in good shape new crate motor and billet wheels.
didn't look like it had any suspension stuff or brakes.

OK, that one showed there is still some serious action out there. It was a Powerglide no Air, no option except RS / SS. My accountant has the twin with deluxe interior, A"C Fold down seat and 49K miles. I sold it to him in 1992 for $13K, were going to $150K next year, he just doesn't know it yet, LOL!

The glass 55 Chevy for $100K was fricken strong to! nice car but damn strong for what is was.

The high value for the 55 must have been because of the chassis!

It all goes back to the fact you have to have 2 guys who want a car really bad. Alot of the guys buying stuff during the week will resell them soon. The people who make money are the gusy who resell them a few weeks or months later.

But there are way to many commercials, They sell 3 cars and run 5 minutes of commercials.

I know the first few days are usually slower...but has anyone else noticed how much more time they seem to be taking with each car?I watched last night where they even waited out a guy talking to a potential buyer on his cell.
Maybe this is a backlash over that Ramchargers fiasco last year?

ALLFAITH
01-17-2008, 03:54 PM
I concur, Musclecar John. They are super slow on each bid. Maybe their lawyers talking or part of an agreement with Ramcharger Judge guy in a settelment -- where they change future auction tactics but admit no wrongdoing. Just thinking like a lawyer outload.

That 67 SS/RS for 90K IMO was ridiculous. 30K car at best.

I thought the 66 Gold 427/425 Impala or Caprice at 53K was a nice buy.

Absolutely loved the 62 Country Squire with surfboard. That was a killer car to me (wife and two kids)

Barrett Jackson, Proves acouple things. 1 Any Camaro is ridulous in price, Mopar stuff haas topped the F-Body market in price.

There have been some good deals, The custom bikes I'm surprised are so cheap, there have been some 100k bikes sold for less than 40k, the street rods and street machines have been nice priced close to what you could buy them at a Goodguys show for. without the 10% buyers fee.

This year is the year of the true documented low mileage cars.

Anyone see Randy Johnson's 37 Ford go across the block?

Boy was he pissed when it sold for $62k

Not far off its value though those cars aren't real hot, might have got another 20 or so out of it somewhere else

I just watched it. It was considered a '39 .

I think he got good money for it. Those bodies are a little "past their prime." IMO.
