I always wanted to know how many of us have changed directions with our cars. I'll start.
Started off as daily driver, then got a commuter for school - that was 1995, then put a LT1 in it and drove it all the time when not going to school. Then I discovered drag racing, added a bottle, changed heads, cam, etc, bigger bottle then it broke several parts, tranny's rearends, and finally the motor.
In 2000 I decided to go with a 468 a friend sold me for $150, what he owed the machine shop for labor, then they built the motor for me with a bottle in mind, had full manual valve body, 4500 Coan stall, and a brake, it was awesome @ the track but horrilbe to drive almost anywhere. Then I discovered PT, and then it really changed directions. I went from drag racing everything to more of the PT stuff over the next couple of years. Sold the Welds, TH400, suspension and bought 18" Budniks, TKO-600, coilovers, rebuilt the front suspension etc. Now its 2008 and my project is now Procharged with the F1R, thanks Frank, I think its tuned pretty close thanks Jody, and runs pretty good, and I'm happy. But then I got the bug again on here and PT to look at the Gbar or Quadralink setup, thanks to pretty much everyone here for getting me going on this, and also EFI, partially thanks to Jody and the many conversations I have had with him about it...... Oh yeah I'm also starting to think about changing to the LS motor and using my Procharger on that.... It never ends.... 1st pic is how I bought it, and how it sits now.
What's your story?

From the start of the build until it was finished
4 sets of wheels
4 motors
2 sets of brakes
2 different sub frames
2 sets of seats
2 different rear ends
and the car did not drive during all of those swaps
I have no idea what you guys are talking about. :bunny:

I have more direction changes, sitting around in boxes in my garage, than a compass in a box of magnets.

2 sets of wheels/tires.
2 sets of headers.
2 intake manifolds.
Engine and rear suspension 'mods' as we speak.
Not too bad considering it's been over 6 years...but I have to admit I've been tempted to change many other things!
Oh, and I've 'settled' on at least a few paint colors...glad that's all behind me!!

Had plans on building my car back to stock specs, untill I stumbled across this site :D :lateral:. Almost everyday I learn/see something new from this site that I want to add to my car. But I'm scared to buy parts, in fear that I'm going to see something better the next day

I will be swapping wheels once the car is finished.
This site keeps me in constant confusion :willy: due to all the cool new parts and awesome designs. I keep telling myself I want to stay partial with the stock look

mine started as a driver until i found out how much rust it had and how much time and money it was going to take to restore. thats when i decided on a street/strip car (sure picked the less expensive route there  ). ive been through two sets of wheels, three rearends (the final got a coilover/ladderbar suspension), three carbs, changed heads, completely redone the fuel system, switched from power steering to rack and halfway through decided to go with manual steering box, took out the dash to install an aluminum one... looked like crap.... reinstalled a better dash than i had. now im talking to my machinist about a future TT SBC when the Olds motor spits the crank out.

I started out redoing the whole car because I bought it cheap as a theft recovery, lots of problems with it. I fixed it up mechanically, it was 100% apart from paint. Some mods here and there but really just a nice driver. Then I got rearended and was working on fixing that when I noticed one door hinge had excessive play. Took that door off and noticed a werd spot on the a pillar, decided to investigate and before I knew it the front clip was off completely. Found some nasty damage there, fixed it and wanted to build the car back up again and then something came over me, dunno what it was but I ended up with this (havent worked on it in months, been busy w/ a 77 vette and a 69 mustang 428cj mostly) I'd say I've changed directions a few times. I built 2 complete rear suspension systems for it, first a 5 bar system with additionial upper control rods (to eliminate the halfshafts as geometry components) and later built a double a arm susp.

I thought changing directions all the time and specially the "while I'm at it" were part of any project...

I never change directions.... no wait... yes I do!! :burnout:
I also suffer from the "while I'm at it" syndrome... thats why I have the equivalent to a dynacorn 69, except "with some assembly required"....

I need Google Maps to figure out what direction I'm going...
The PT route has definitely been the most expensive :faint:
