Well I talked to my "guy" at my local dealer. 20 people on the list and the top bidder is willing to give 10,000 over sticker. He also told me that all each dealership is promised one camaro from the factory, the first quarter of 2009 until they catch up to begin mass production.

Rumor mill:

$25k base model - 300hp V6, no cheaper version.

$32k+ SS model - 4xx hp LSx

$38k Z28 model - 550 hp LSx

Limited to 7,500 units due to CAFE standards. I don't know if that is 7,500 units or 7,500 V8s.. I'm guess V8's

That is all..

Will these cars actually have LS-X blocks in them?
If so this will be a great platform for some power adders!

My money would be on all aluminum LS2, LS3, L92, etc.

A 300hp v6? That'd be a pretty sweet DD. Arent the 05+ mustangs 4.6 3v motors rated at 300hp?

It'll probably cost about $100.000 here since a base c6 coupe is around 150 and a Z06 is right around 180/190 or so (and the ZR1 will probably be right in the 250K area). Nope, not for me even though I'd kill for one.

I'm supposed to get mine in June of 08 but it is just a metal body to build an Outlaw 10.5 car. Chevy is selling 200 of the first ones to make into racecars. We are number 5 on the list. Carter is doing the rendering currently.

Maybe it's just me, or the way the photo is displayed, but that pre-production version of the car looks like the proportions are a little out of whack.

That looks nothing like a camaro more like a chevette

A chevette? Are you serious?

I have no idea where you getting any sort of a Chevette vibe from this car :faint: .

The 5th Gen is definitely one of my top choices for my next car. I saw the concept at NAIAS last year and it was/is stunning. The production version is getting a few necessary changes, but it seems to be sticking pretty close to the concept and I am extremely happy about that. Still waiting for the official word on what engine/tranny combos will be available. I am little worried about that, in light of what GM has done and has been talking about doing since the new CAFE laws were passed.

Either way it won't be available till the first quarter of '09, so I might be willing to sign onto a waiting list but I would only do so if I didn't have to put money down since there is no OFFICIAL preordering as of yet.

The rear qtr window looks to have shrunk significantly, and the way it transitions into the quarter panel has definately lost some of it's impact vs. the concept...

I agree, they should have stuck with more of the concept vehicle. The whole thing is much small. I'm hoping 20" wheels and ground effect will help out.
