Good Day All,

As Christmas is getting closer I figured it's time to do an Update.

The orginal rendering that Bob Thrash did showed the truck as an OEM Concept Vehicle.

So staying with that theme it was important to find the right Seatbellts for the truck.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/SeatbeltPlanet_Logo_640.jpg

When I was at Sema I met Steve and his partner from Seatbletplanet.
These guys are top notch and know more then you can every imagine about seatbelts.
www.seatbeltplanet.com

The main reason we choose the belts from Seatbelt Planet is they are NHSTA approved.
Something that your standard 4 or 5 point harness are not.

Just remember, if you are in an accident and the passenger in your car is not wearing a approved seatbelt
I am willing to bet your insurance company is going to have fun with you.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_11_05_Sema_301.jpg

Another huge selling factor is there color selection, this is just a few that they had on Display at Sema.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_11_05_Sema_302.jpg

Wait, is that a Syborg T-Shirt at Sema.
Very cool

T-Shirts are available @ Mac Ink

Okay, here are the finished belts for Syborg.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_11_29_Recovery_Room_3162.jpg

Okay, we've been getting a lot of questions about the interior.
I figure it's time I start sharing some pics.

Tracy is doing a great job adding all the little details to make everything look and feel OEM.

Awesome work on the interior....you're driving us crazy with all the "previews". Marty, I was relooking at the last 18 months of post and noticed the Stainless Works Exhaust Tips. Did Kenny shape it to fit the body or did Stainless make a custom shape for you? Is the Exhaust Tips solid so they can be ground to the shape you want? Thanks!

As for the exhaust Kenny did do some rework on them but they can pretty much custom make anything you need.

Marty, I've been watching your thread for the last 18 months since joining Lateral-G and while it was truly impressive watching it week to week, it was unreal looking back at what you've done. Words and pictures can't describe all the research, patience and rework you invested in getting it just right. I just moved my project from my garage to AutoKraft so I'm spending the holiday break looking at all the highly detailed projects to get ideas. Your's was on the top of my list. Any pictures, details of your final pedal assembly would be appreciated. Thanks!

As for billet pedal arms those are on hold till after it get's back from Interior.

Or if your talking about the wilwood dual master I can't point you in the right direction.

Good Afternoon All,

The snow at Tracy's shop has been brutal and since there has never been a
deadline on the truck I told him Family first and get to the truck when he has time.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_26_Recovery_Room_3417.jpg

There are not many resources for good quality parts for truck owners.
So far LMC Truck has been a life saver they seem to have every part that we have been unable to find for this build.

Instead of Tracy making a headliner from Scratch I contacted LMC truck and ordered one of there ABS Headliners.

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cst/full.aspx?Page=111

I originally ordered the headliner in black but as some of you know the interior color has changed.
Tracy removed the black material and prepped it for the new fabric.
It make life better when you start with a quality part.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_02_Recovery_Room_3206.jpg

Tracy & Jimmy recovered the headliner with the material that matches the interiors leather

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_02_Recovery_Room_3211.jpg

Installed in the truck - You can start to get a feel for what the interior is going to look like once complete.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_13_Recovery_Room_IMG_3262.jpg

In order to make the dash look finished it was important to add a glove box door.
This will also help us if we need to get to the MSD box or the Big Stuff 3 ignition.

I,m camera shy,He will have a whole bunch to show real fast...The truck never really had a specific time slot after Kenny had his accident,Just got it to me when they could.Marty and Kenny are both friends of mine outside of cars,And Marty said work on it when we could so I kept going on the cars that hit there scheduled dates. That also gave me the freedom to look at doing some cool things to the truck without worrying about show dates at the last minute( been there , done that , not fun.).The best part is torturing Marty..ha ha.It has been fun to work on this MINI truck ,Something different:thumbsup: I bet we lost a week of work this winter pushing and hauling snow off,Can't wait to mow grass again.

I will say working with Kenny, Travis, Tracy & Jimmy has been pretty awesome. At first it was about building the truck and then it turned into great freindship with all of these guys.

Personally the freindship with these guys have becomre more important to me then then getting the truck done. But it will get finished and if anyone is planning on going to GG Indy or GG Columbus the truck will be at both.

PS As far as builder & interior guys you can't miss with these guys.

Good Morning All,

This post is dedicated to a good friend Dave 'Myclone"
Way back Dave said to me that he wanted to ride along in my truck once it was complete.

Unfortunately that will never happen Dave lost his life while under one of his trucks.
He was in a hurry and didn't properly set the vehicle on jack stands.
So please be careful when your working on your cars and safety first - ALWAYS !!!

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_18_Recovery_Room_3333_2.jpg

Kenny, Tracy & I all agreed the seats needed a little modification.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_28_Recovery_Room_IMG_3433.jpg

Close up view of the modified seat.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_28_Recovery_Room_IMG_3434.jpg

Not to worry Guys there will be a headrest.
Tracy made up this little templete and sent it over to Ron @ WMC Design.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_29_Recovery_Room_3444.jpg

It's unfortunate that Dave won't be able to be my passenger.
But I will always remember him and know that he is riding next to me when I am driving the truck.

Good Morning All,

As you know the seats have been cut down.
In order to protect my brain bucket we came up with these innovative Headrest brackets.

Tracy made a cardboard template and shipped them to Ron at Wilson Muscle cars.
www.wilsonmusclecars.com

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_29_Recovery_Room_3444.jpg

Ron took it to the next level and created the CAD files needed to actually create the brackets
both for the headrest and the roll cage.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_01_09_WMC_234.jpg

Dennis over at High Speed Welding made the roll cage brackets for us.
www.highspeedwelding.com

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_15_Hi_Speed_IMI_001.jpg

and Finally TJ over at IMI Manufacturing in Bolingbrook, IL cut the final brackets.
e-mail: [email protected]

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_15_Hi_Speed_IMI_005.jpg

It took a real group effort to make these things and I can't wait to see how Tracy & Jimmy finish these off.

Good Evening All,

Sorry this post is so late.
My goal is to post every Mon & Thursday till you see the finished product.

Lets start from the beginning

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_08_19_Josh_Mishler_48_001.jpg

Dave @ Comp Fabrication built the entire dash out of sheetmetal.
As you can see from the above picture we needed the extra space.
We lost a bunch of real estate when the firewall was moved back.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_09_24_Recovery_Room_2858_001.jpg

The dash mimics the Factory dash almost exactly.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_09_24_Recovery_Room_2859.jpg

Yet to install was the glove box - Not to worry that is where the interior guy's do there magic.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_12_13_Recovery_Room_3266.jpg

Making room for the Autometer gauges they removed from the Dash Surround.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_08_Recovery_Room_3650.jpg

New Home - right under the Vintage Air controls.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_10_Recovery_Room_3665.jpg

Laying the material.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_10_Recovery_Room_3671.jpg

Stepping up the details on the dash with some trim.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_11_Recovery_Room_3696_2.jpg

Two more Autometer gauges in place.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_12_Recovery_Room_3690.jpg

see ya next week - have a great weekend.

Good Morning All,

So what do you do when you have a good looking center console that no longer fits the quality of the build and the future interior.
You tell the guys at Recovery Room Interiors to have at it and let them see what they can come up with.

Taking everyone way back to the beginning.
This is what we started with.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2002_02_06_00.jpg

When we started building the Interior at Comp Fab it was important to the project that
we maintain the factory center consule that was specific to the Syclone, Typhoon & Sonoma GT's.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_03_23_014.jpg

First version of the Interior was really nice and we all thought the factory door panels were a little weak.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2007_03_03_003.jpg

Starting with a clean slate -- the idea's started flying.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_08_26_Josh_24.jpg

Not sure how the color changed to tan, I think I lost the coin toss with Kenny & Tracy.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_11_29_Recovery_Room_3177.jpg

This is what we handed Tracy & Jimmy and said make it work.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_05_Recoery_Room_3638.jpg

If you can remember back to the last post some of the gauges came out of the dash surround which means
they need to find a new home in the center consule.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_05_Recoery_Room_3645.jpg

Recovering the stock consule might sound like an easy task.
I assure you it takes time and skill to get stitches to line up this nice.
Did I mention that laying the leather this tight and smooth is also a talent?

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_08_Recovery_Room_3652.jpg

Finished gauge pod or should I say almost finished.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_09_Recovery_Room_3659.jpg

Not sure if you remember this original dull black shifter surround.
It's amazing what a little color can do.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_10_Recovery_Room_3660.jpg

Details - Simple Pin Punched material adds texture to the interior.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_10_Recovery_Room_3673.jpg

Autometer Gauges Installed.
More Details - Once again we made the call to Wilson Muscle Car and had them cut us some Billet Syborg Emblems.

Good Morning All,

Okay looking back at the stock Door Panel we have come a long way.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/92_Sonoma_GT_Doorpanel.jpg

In Order to Clear the new Sheetmetal Dash we had to remove the front of the door panel.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_11_04_024.jpg

Some of you may remember these trick little pieces from Air Ride / Ride Tech.
Wait till you see what we have in store for a pair of these.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_09_28_Recovery_Room_2893_001.jpg

The base panel is built and it will be the foundation for the door.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2009_09_30_Recovery_Room_2896_001.jpg

Door Handle / Pull built with amazing detail.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_15_Recovery_Room_3717.jpg

The guys at Recovery Room are always trying to One Up themselves and come up with the next cool idea.
I think there headed in the right direction with this concept.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_17_Recovery_Room_3737.jpg

Remember those little billet pieces from Air Ride / Ride Tech / Precision Coach Works.
Pretty cool idea.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_17_Recovery_Room_3740.jpg

OE Concept theme is continued and all doors must have a reflector in them.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_17_Recovery_Room_3745.jpg

To add detail to the leather the material was pin-punched

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_19_Recovery_Room_3756.jpg

OE Concept again - Kicker Emblem
All the little details make the difference.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_19_Recovery_Room_3757.jpg

Door Panel Skin are getting ready for Material.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_19_Recovery_Room_3758.jpg

All together now.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_19_Recovery_Room_3763.jpg

Quick Close Up of the Insert.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_19_Recovery_Room_3765.jpg

Can't Forget the Map Pocket - just in case I get lost.
Reflector - just in case I leave the door open at night and want people to see me.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_02_19_Recovery_Room_3770.jpg

Finished Door Panel - Simple, Clean & Elegant.

Oddly enough it simple

The buckle itself has to be a single push button like we all use everday and it must have a DOT Certification. Which racing harnesses don't have.

According my insurance agent if I had a passenger in my car and he was wearing a non DOT approved belt i would be soley liable for all injuries and law suits. That is if he/she was wearing said non DOT approved belts. If they weren't wearing a belt then they would cover them. Talk about screwed up.

ps My agent is a very close friend so i value his opinion.

Also if your retrofitting belts into your car make sure you put the proper doughnut / re-enforcement plates at all mounting points.

I know juliano's make 3 point retrofit belts for muscle cars and they are also certified.

Marty,

Thanks for the info, but I have a question. I was looking around the link you provided and could not find anywhere where they stated the belts were DOT Certified. I saw a bunch about testing, but nothing about certification. Did I miss it? I would like to get this right. When it comes time to get these, I'll give them a call.

Pretty darn fast - I am trying to think how Kenny put it

When you roll the throttle at 40mph you can feel it wanting to break the rear tires loose and when it does you don't even have time to look at the quages because your doing everyting you can to hang on to it.

Good Morning All,

Sema has come and gone and I didn't have a chance to do a few of the updates.
So my plan is to get them all posted by the end of the weekend.

As the truck was getting ready for it's journey to Sema we needed to finish up all of the little details.
In order to keep the Factory Prototype Theme we had a few OEM looking Decals made for the door Jamb & Core Support.
www.rev-in.com

Adam at Revolution Industries recreated the two of the factory decals with a little twist.

The door Jamb decals looks just like the factory one however a few minor changes were made.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/syborgdoordecal.jpg

As for the Emission decal it's hard to tell it from the factory decal.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/syborgemissionslabel.jpg

A couple more post to follow.

Final Sema Pictures and it's on to the next project.

Good Morning All,

It's been a great ride and I can't tell you how much fun I've had building this truck. I made some life time memories and friends. I've learned so much building this truck and I am looking forward to sharing what I have learned with everyone
on the next project.

Here are a few final pictures I snapped of the truck while I was in Vegas.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_11_04_Sema_1.jpg

Mike Norris (( www.mikenorrismotorsports.com )) hooked us up with this nice Billet PCV catch can. It's one of the final details to complete the engine bay.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_11_04_Sema_2.jpg

Pictures of the Emission decal that Adam (( www.rev-in.com )) created for the truck. He did a great job creating it and I didn't do a bad job with the printing. Kenny was convinced it was a factory decal when he received it.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_11_04_Sema_3.jpg

Nitrous Express (( www.nitrousexpress.com )) built the intercooler chiller for the truck and I think this is the first time everyone has had a chance to see the tank mounted in the truck.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_11_04_Sema_9.jpg

In the bed of the truck are just a few of the magazine articles that featured the truck.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2010_11_04_Sema_442.jpg

This is the last picture I took of the truck before it headed off to it's new home. The yellow beast is the car that I drove home from Vegas.

Hello All,

First I would like to Thank Josh Mishler for taking these incredible pictures of the truck. Now I need to thank Dave at Comp Fab, Kenny, Kenny Sr & Travis at Kenny Davis Hot Rods, Bob Thrash and Tracy at Recovery Room Interiors. If it wasn't for these shops this truck would not be what is its today.

So go out and pick up the latest issue of Truckin Magazine. They did a great feature on the truck.

I would also like to thank all of the great vendors that participated in the build of this truck.

P. S. Bret thank you for selling such a great suspension product line. Your Suspension is what makes this truck look the way it does.
