I tried to convice Kenny but he said no way. Next project will bring back the dancing bed.

ps - you may have just given the "Stitch Bitch" an idea for his next project. He's alway's loved the Nissan Hardbody.

Where's the 26's and half-cab body drop and dancing bed?

Sweet build up for sure. My first vehicle was a Nissan Hardbody that was lowered on 50 series tires (before big wheels were available of course...).

I always wanted to buy a wrecked/rolled early 90's twin-turbo 300ZX and use the drivetrain & motor with the truck body & frame. I was 17 with no money, a dad who I could convince to help me, and time to day dream.....

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your dime on track day

Good Morning All,

Spent the day over at Rockford Racecraft sorting out ll of the misc stuff on the motor.

Trying to find a gasket for the motor has been fun to say the least.
Guy & Mike are working together to get the correct intake gaskets.

Cloyes Timing Cover - I just love this piece.

More misc Parts - Thanks Mike.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_12_RR_6.jpg

We put the motor all together so we could get a complete list of all of the ARP bolts
that we needed to order for the motor.
Not to worry it's just another call to Totally Stainless.

Good Afternoon All,

Just as the title says "We've got Wood"!

Kenny sent the Grille & Front Cover off to get digitally Scanned.
What we ended up with are dimensionally correct "Wood Bucks" of all the opening.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_24_KD_0.jpg

All the parts laid out on the floor.
If you look at the grille piece you can see it has a concave shape

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_24_KD_1.jpg

My Favorite - The Front Cover opening.
Notice how the buck follows the curve of the Front cover.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_24_KD_4.jpg

This pictures shows the curve of the Wood a little better.
All of the parts were cut on a 4 Axis CNC machine.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_24_KD_5.jpg

Some Pretty cool work these guy's are doing.
I'm really getting excited to see this thing in color.

Good Morning All,

Guy has been busy working on the getting the turbo's & Wastegates coated.
He offers Ceramic/Metallic Hi Temp Coating that is done in house.

Turbo's stripped and getting ready.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_17_RR_0.jpg

Since this is part Show Truck / Driver.
Guy wanted to make sure the Exhaust housings looked good,
so some extra time was spent cleaning them up.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_17_RR_1.jpg

You can see the before and after pictures of the Wastegate.
Plenty of time was spent on the wastegates cleaning them up.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_18_RR_0.jpg

Step one - The Hi Temp coating has been applied to the exhaust housings.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_21_RR_0.jpg

and the Wastegate.

Now the fun part - polishing up the exhaust housing.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_21_RR_2.jpg

It's getting there - much better then the original rusty version.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_01_21_RR_4.jpg

almost looks like a butt if you ask me.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_02_06_RR_1.jpg

It's really good working with a shop that does hi temp coatings in house.

They also coat piston domes, combustion chambers, valves, and do dry film coatings on pistons and bearings,
and even do special coatings on interior surfaces of blocks to aid in oil drainback and heat dissipation.
Currently they are working on a special anti friction coating using Tungsten disulfide.
These guys are serious when it comes to this coating stuff!

Wow - man that was a long time ago on the Shock Wave's. I would have to look to see if i have the part number.

From memory they were Ride Height 18" but i could be wrong.

Panhard Bar above the frame - hard to give you an answer since the frame has been moved way up in the rear. If you asking will it hit the bed floor - nope it will clear.

The goal with the truck is not to lay frame. We set the truck at 4.5" ride height and that is pretty much how were going to show and drive the truck. No reason to put in the weads.

hey marty.. i just saw this on and immediately thought of you. its a cheap upgrade worth thinking about for your ride... http://www.turbomalibu.com/ click the "dual fuel system". its alittle redneck engineering but its sooo simple and automatically switches from 89 or 93 octane to 116 octan under boost

http://www.turbomalibu.com/videos/dualdemo1.WMV

since the injectors are pull to ground both sets are wired to the ecm, and the power is switched from one set of incjetors to another.. allowing higher boost... (remember to turn on the 116 octane fuelpump at a lower boost setting;-) ) just somthing to considder

you could even run methanol on the second set, just by running proportionately larger injectors and adjusting fuelpressure so both fuelsystems deliver furl coresponding o the oxygen in the chamber... the same map should work for both...

sorry for the sidetrack... now for some paint pictures please

Good Morning All,

So talked to Kenny early Saturday Morning let's say 7am and he said he was going to paint all day.
Well at 6pm he sent me these pictures -- Kenny is the man is my book.

Now all we have to do is teach him how to take a picture.
Not to worry i may have a solution.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_01_KD_0.jpg

Yep it's a really tough color to photograph especially in a paint booth.

Possible picture Solution ;-)

We should have some really good, no I mean great pictures of the truck in the next week or so.
Why - because Josh Mishler is actually going to take pictures of the truck.

Yep he's the Man - the Camera Man

If you've read any magazine lately you've seen his work.

Good Morning All,

Last week Kenny took the bed over the Line-X Dealer.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_07_KD_1.jpg

The underside and topside have been sprayed for protection from road debris.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_07_KD_2.jpg

I was asked earlier what the little notches were for on the front of the bed.
These were put in to clear the hardware that attaches the rollbar legs to the cab.

Should have more pictures later in the week

Good Morning All,

The Turbos are done and look really nice.
Both Guy and Precision Turbo really took care of me.

Guy & I started talking and we realized these Turbos have been shipped via UPS so many time it's just not right.
So here is a really long story -- see if you make it to the end.

So way back on June 25, 2004 I purchased custom Turbos from Precision Turbo.
www.precisionturbo.net www.rockfordracecraft.com

Precision Turbo shipped them to Rockford Racecraft. - 140miles

After Rockford Racecraft looked them over, he drove them to Competition Fabrication - 51 miles
www.compfab.com

When the truck was completed at Comp Fab they headed to my Shop - 54 miles

About 4 months later I loaded truck w/Turbos and headed to Recovery Room Interiors to meet Kenny - 601 miles
www.recoveryroomrodinteriors.com

Kenny Hauls truck, motor & those Turbos back to his Shop in Arkansas - 413 miles
www.kdhotrods.com

A short while later Kenny Ships Turbos back to my shop - 592 Miles
www.sportmachines.com

Then I ship Turbos to Rockford Racecraft so they could Polished and Hi-Temp all the surfaces of the Turbos. - 93 miles

Now here's were it gets fun ( if you've read this far )

In order to Hi Temp Coat the center section of the Turbo's you have to send the center section to Precision Turbo so they can take it apart - 144 miles

Precision Turbo - disassembles Center Section and Ships it back to Rockford Racecraft - 144 miles

Rockford Racecraft High temp coats the center section and then ships it back to Precision Turbo - 144 miles

Precision Turbo Reassembles the Center Section and ships them Back to Rockford Racecraft - 144 miles

Rockford Racecraft puts everything back together and then ships them to Kenny Davis - 617 miles
( really I hope this is there last Journey )

Now that's a lot of miles -- how many not sure it's late.

Okay so here are the Turbo's and yep there in the new bed on the new line-x liner.
Note the center section is officially Hi-Temp Coated Black

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_10_RR_0.jpg

The imperfections in the housing were tig welded prior to polishing.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_10_RR_3.jpg

Exhaust Housing were done in a silver finish.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_10_RR_4.jpg

Final Picture
yep - there they are sitting on that new line-x bed liner

Good Day all,

Where coming down to the end with the motor build.

However, we still have a couple little more problems that needed to be resolved.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_05_RR_0.jpg

The problems only gets worse when you put the valve cover on.
So the tube will have to be removed from the inside of the valve cover.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_05_RR_1.jpg

Once tube is removed the valve cover will leak oil.
To keep the oil from leaking we installed an O-ring under the ARP bolt.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_05_RR_3.jpg

Guy also had to remove a little material from the Rocker itself.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_06_RR_1.jpg

Plenty of updates to come this week.
So keep your eye's open.

The back of the cab has been coated since it will be exposed to the elements.

Hi All,

Okay it's not that late but I'm really tired.

Well, Kenny is at it again. He's not happy with a few spots on the truck so there back at it again.
Two things you will notice in the picture.
1. Primer on the new Standox paint
2. Standox is the Paint of choice for this project.

Yep back to the holding area and getting ready to hit the paint booth again.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_03_24_KD_0.jpg

Yep the Turbo's are temporarily off the new Line-X and back on the Motor
Didn't Rockford Racecraft do a nice job making those Turbo's shinny.

I drove down and met Marty, Kenny and Bob today, all I can say is quite the crew... I have been sworn to secrecy, about certian parts of the truck. Kenny and Bob were accomplishing some pretty cool stuff, while Marty and I played shop bitch at times...

Here are some pics of what I can share

Bob spent a couple hours looking at paint chips trying to get the right color "Red"

Hi All,

It's all about the little details that no one may ever notice.

This is how the bed gap looks on a Stock s10 -- Not so good.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/07_28_05_003.jpg

Sliding the bed forward you can solve the gap problem.
However, you will need to stiffen the chassis to prevent the bed from twisting and hitting the cab.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2005_07_05_15.jpg

Of Course this then leads to the next problem.
The bed is just a little wider then the cab.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2005_10_06_021.jpg

So off comes the bed.
Now it's time to drill out all of the spot welds that hold the bed sides on the truck

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2005_10_06_032.jpg

Just a close up of the fun that Dave had drilling spotwelds

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2005_10_06_033.jpg

syborg tt
04-24-2008, 08:12 PM
It's not over yet - it's actually just beginning.
This is proof that you fix one problem and it just makes the other problems look worse.

You can see that the cab has an excessive curve to it - now that has got to get fixed.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2007_06_20_025.jpg

You can see that Kenny is hard it here.
This is proof that Kenny is an all around Builder.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2007_08_19_2.jpg

Time to start slinging some mud.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2007_11_15_0.jpg

The bed had to come off so you can see the work Kenny did on the "B" Pillars

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2007_11_25_KD_0.jpg

Now this is how it should have come from the factory

They're not bad looking seats, but I'm not a fan of seats you can see through the back window on a standard cab truck. I know that isn't the best for really driving, but I just don't like the look. I was thinking of building a removable upper section of the seat. You would have function while driving hard and looks when it is parked. JMO No matter what, it is going to be bad a$$.

As long as the seats don't stand too tall its not that big of an eye sore. I've got a 3rd Gen and the factory seats are visible through the back glass. Just put some DARK tint back there and no one will know! Plus you keep the safety of the tall seat, not beating your head against the back glass in the event of a collision

syborg tt

The seats won't be any taller then the factory seats. If we cut them down below the window then they would be at my nipples and i'm short.

Good Morning All,

As everyone know's i'm a big fan of Bell Tech.
I've used there stuff on all of my truck builds and it's worked out great each and every time.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/belltech_2.gif

Previously installed on the truck was there Sway Bar.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/BT_AntiSwaybars.jpg

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2006_12_09_001.jpg

When Precision Brakes built my front Brake Kit they used a generic Spindle.
The intention has always been to install Bell Tech Drop Spindles.

This is where I normally would insert a picture of the actual spindle they shipped me.
However, we all know Kenny's not good with the Camera so the guy's at Bell Tech sent me a nice image.

From the Factory the body line on the "A" pillar was going in the wrong direction.

Good Morning All,

Last minute decision to smooth the Wiper Cowl.
Remember the truck has a remote wiper set up so we may have another wiper cowl with wiper holes
for the Power Tour next year.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_04_30_KD_3.jpg

Bad lighting but here is the only picture of the doors cleared.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_05_12_KD_4.jpg

The tailgate is complete and yep it's resting on the new bedliner.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_05_12_KD_14.jpg

I was asked for a close up of the tailgate graphics that showed the shadows that Bob does.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_05_12_KD_21.jpg

That's all for today.
More to come on Thursday.

Good Morning All,

Some of you may know we've been on the hunt for new seats for the truck.
Well, with a little direction from the BB forums (( nissan1995 )).

I looked at a bunch of vendors and found that Sparco had exactly what I was looking for.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Renderings/sparco.gif

I choose the Sparco Modena Suede Seat
www.sparcousa.com

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_05_22_Sparco_3.jpg

I called them and hooked up with Gabe he said they still had a few available.
This led to that and the seats are on there way to Kenny's.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_05_22_Sparco_4.jpg

My Favorite part of the seat is the back.
To bad it's there going in a pick up truck and you won't see the back.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_05_22_Sparco_6.jpg

If you're looking for a set of seats you can e-mail
[email protected]
or
check there Ebay store

Sorry, I'm a little late on the update this week I am in Florida with the Family.

Kenny has been busy working on the frame.

The before

The After.

Our goal is to have the frame look smooth when you look into the engine bay.

Good Morning All,

I've spent a lot of time trying to design the right sound System in the Cab of Syborg
and the good news is the Guy's at Kicker have stepped up and helped design a very simple yet effective system.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_07_06_kicker_001.jpg

Dan over in Kicker R & D selected all of the Compinents for the truck and I can't thank him enough.
I've learned that more isn't always better.

This amp that was choosen is the ZX550.3
It is a 3-Channel Amplifier with Class D 3rd Channel for Subwoofer(s)
w/Remote Bass Control (controls subwoofer channel only)

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_07_06_kicker_002_zx550_3.jpg

The Speaker are simple and should keep the Interior very Clean.
6-1/2" RS Series 2-Way Component System
1" Teteron elliptical dome tweeter with neodymium magnet

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_07_06_kicker_004_rs65_2.jpg

Of Course you need to have a little bass and Kicker has the perfect subwoofer for the small cab.
10" Shallow-Mount Subwoofer

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_07_06_kicker_005.jpg

Mounting Depth is only 4-3/16"
Yep, that's shallow - perfect for such a small cab.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_07_06_kicker_006.jpg

Also Included was a Complete Wiring kit which i really need to take a picture of.

Good Evening All,

Okay were back from Columbus Good Guy's show, It was a blast.

2008 Good Guys Columbus Pics (http://garagescene.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=45)

So this is why the Monday Update is actually happening on Wednesday this week.

The Engine and Tranny have been painted.
I know the pictures stink - Travis took them with his cell phone.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_06_14_KD_001.jpg

Close up of the Bowler Tranny Painted
Yep, I Think Travis went to the Kenny Davis Photography School.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_06_14_KD_002.jpg

Rear Differential is painted and ready to go back in the Chassis.
However we need to order all of the chassis hardware from Totally Stainless.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_06_18_KD_0.jpg

Okay, It is very hard to tell the color from the above pictures.
But not to worry Kenny took the below Picture.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/albums/Build/2008_06_18_KD_1.jpg

So you still can't figure out what color it is.

LOL - Mini-Trucks doesn't bother me in the least.

Kenny is just upset that he no longer fits in the Mini-trucks and he's had to move up to the Big Trucks. I heard he was looking at the new F450 just for the extra room.
