Midnite Octane and Time Machines team up to build Hemi-X

If you wanted to design and build the meanest 1970 GTX ever, what would you dream up? John McBride of Midnite Octane already had a clear vision of what that would be to him. Popular Hot Rodding magazine started an Artist Dream Car Showcase page featuring different artists and their creations in each issue. John was given the opportunity to come up with something different and the Hemi-X concept was put to paper. When the magazines hit the stands, this B-body drew attention especially from Mike Staveski of Time Machines Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It didn’t take much for Mike to convince John that Hemi-X needed to be built, so a plan was put together. Expect to see a modified version of the new 6.1 Hemi under the hood, a 6-speed transmission, and a road race-inspired suspension.

Great news. I knew it wouldn't be long before someone would build a real life version. Now John just has to get GMP to make a 1/18 version of it.:unibrow:

Wow... It's cool to think I was a tiny bit involved in this.. Maybe that means I get to drive it around the block when it's done?

I hope more of our "dream cars" get built. Many of them certainly need to be made reality!

I agree with Steve on this one. I think more need to be built. I especially like the renderings in the last four issues. Kris Horton's Red '69 Mustang, John McBride's '68 Camaro RS "Maelstrom", Brian Stupski's '74 Roadrunner and Carter Hickman's '66 Nova On The 6's.

I hope it lives up to the drawing. John, you're a great artist. I hope they can equal you with the real thing.

Thanks guys and thanks Steve for the opportunity. I have no doubts that Mike and the guys at Time Machines will do a great job taking Hemi-X from the drawing table to the pavement! Mike had contacted me within a day or so from when he got the PHR issue with the rendering of Hemi-X in it. We must have talked for atleast over an hour about how we wanted to do it. I think it's really gonna be wicked! Mike and I definately share the vision on this project and I look forward to working with him in designing the rest of this car from the wheels up. More details to follow in the near future on Hemi-X.

I always thought that car should be built, and I think Time Machines is the perfect shop to build it. I think that will be a sweet car. Such a killer drawing.

Our plans are to start the car when we return from SEMA. We would like to have it finished for the Mopars at the Mansion(Playboy) show next October. Then bring it to SEMA. The car is very solid. It still has its original quarters on the car and its original paint. We have replaced the floors in it and we will need to replace the trunk floor. That is the extent of the metal repair. My guys are extremely excited about building this one. We have two 6.1 hemi off being dyno'd right now. We are going to start to offer 6.1 hemi packages in the next month or so. They will be completely plug and play. All tuning done on a FAST system. We are not sure what style of injection we will run but she will be fast and handle well. I am just excited that John is allowing us to build his car. We want it to be the most significant roadrunner/gtx build to date.

Thanks
Mike

Hey John or Steve is there any chance you could post up a picture of the "Maelstrom" rendering? I have been looking for it and can't find it, I'd like to use it as a desktop background.
