I
bought this car new in the winter of 1986.
As my daily driver for the next 5 years it
stayed mostly stock, then started going
through some changes as I changed. First
with some basic engine modifications then
the addition of a 2 stage NOS cheater kit
set to 250HP. This was in my younger
reckless days when street racing was very
common on the backroads of Fresno CA. When
my job brought me back to my home town in NY
and not wanting to subject the car to the
harsh New England winters I decided to take
the car to the next level with a Pro-Touring
theme. The work began in 2001 with stripping
the body and interior and getting it ready
for new paint. In 2003 we laid down multiple
coats of Corvette bright white followed by
lettering and clear coat.
The original interior with the 60/40 front
bench seat was recovered in a custom
Grey/Black scheme with the familiar Chevy
heartbeat embroidered in the upper door
panels. All the while this work was
progressing I was purchasing the engine
parts to build my dream motor. I was able to
complete the body and interior then start on
the suspension. Once the suspension work was
completed it was time to get serious and
finish the engine and Drivetrain. I was able
to complete the parts list and the build was
underway. What you see in the pictures here
is the end result, A 507hp, 609 ft/lb 6
speed Monte Carlo SS.
