Tom Potts' 69 Camaro - DZ 502
The goal was to build a super clean pro touring 69 Camaro that still had
styling cues of the highly sought after RS Z28.  The project was a running
RS Camaro bought out of Ohio and was a little rougher than expected. All
floorpans were replaced and DSE subframe connectors and minitubs were
installed by a street rod builder named Hot Rods by JSK.  A Martz subframe
was ordered to lighten the front end and improve handling.  One person can
carry the new subframe without any problem.

The firewall was shaved and a special contour pan added to clear the HEI distributor.  After the wheels came in from Simmons Racing a custom 56" Moser Engineering 12 bolt with aluminum brace pan.  Wilwood slotted and drilled discs were ordered for all 4 corners.  Car was scheduled to leave JSK for paint work but seemed a shame since it was on the rotisserie.  After a lot of whining the car stayed in and was put in the prestigious paint line with a 36 Chevy 3 window and the JB Weld SEMA show truck.  It took a while but the paint job was worth the wait.

At this point there was nothing but assembly so Jeff Kinsey plumbed
and wired the ZZ502.  Scott G's old TKO 3550 was pulled out of the crate and
put into service.  Andy Martin put together a custom rear seat and 2 custom
Interior Specialties lowback streetrod seats.  Material utilized was a black
ultraleather and red/black houndstooth.

All gauges were installed in a DSE dash so the console was deleted.  Even
though this car was built for driving, the completion goal was to thrash the
car and enter the Dallas Autorama Show February 18.  Early on the show start day I saw Troy T's show trailer with the "sick fish" drive by while we had
about 6 more hours to finish.  IT WAS NERVE WRACKING and the car was late but we did make it before I lost my spot in the Super Chevy booth.  Check out
the pictures and the last one shows the sick fish in the background.
