This is a 1980 Camaro Z28 that I have owned
for approx 9 years now. The car was
purchased as a solid stock driver that was
brought to Michigan from California.
The original colors were Arctic White paint
w/ Blue stripes and a Dark Blue interior.
My main objectives when I purchased this vehicle were
to get
- a solid body
-T - tops
Everything else could and would be changed.
The first major undertaking was too
eliminate the undepowered 165 HP stock 305 and replace it with a GM 385
Fastburncrate motor w/ aluminum heads. At the same time the stock 350 trans was
sent out to be rebuilt and beefed up to accomoodate the new motor. Also added
was a Griffin aluminum radiator. All of which I swapped out myself.
Over the next few years to come several
chrome/aluminum mods (March serpentine pulleys, Edelbrock intake etc.)were added
to the engine as well as a complete polyurethane suspension upgrade .
Then several years and thousands of
saved dollars later came the body and paint restoration. It was so nice to work
on a solid bodied ,rust free car. The new paint was to be 2007 Corvette Silver.
A good majority of the disassembly and reassembly was done by myself and a good
friend of mine sprayed the car at his paint shop.
Finally, 9 weeks later the paint was
complete and the new Budnik ice wheels were ordered
17x8 - 4.5 b.s. on front w/ 245 45 17 BFG
17x9.5- 5.5 b.s. on rear w 255 50 17 BFG
After this I developed a custom Black
leather interior w/ new door panels and a custom console.
The seats are out of a 2008 Pontiac G6
and the foam was modified and custom leather covers were cut and sewn. All of
the interior work was also done by myself as this is what I do for a living
