The car started its life as a 70 R/S Camaro back when I first purchased it in 1997. I then proceeded to build at the time what I thought the car should be. I was fortunate to get my first magazine article in Car Craft at the 1998 Car Craft Summer Nationals. I owned the car from 1997-2001 when I was tired of replacing the blown up big block every winter. I traded the car to a gentleman for a 1999 Hugger Orange SS Camaro. I really liked the newer car , but it was new muscle without the classic looks which I really liked the most. I sold the car built a few old cars with modern tech (1967 SS R/S , 1966 SS Chevelle) still longing for my old second gen. I was contacted by a friend saying he saw my old 70 on Ebay. I investigated to find in fact that it was my old 70 Camaro & worked out a deal to purchase it back. The amazing thing was that the car over a 7 year span had not changed a bit & only had 1600 more miles on it then when I sold it. I had was going to leave the car alone being that it was a driving car, but that lasted about 4 months & it was completely disassembled & on it's way to a complete transformation. I also decided that since I started my own business that I would use the Camaro as my business card & branded it a D&Z28 Camaro. The pictures that follow are the result of what the Camaro has become.

Thanks Randy (D&Z Customs LLC.)

Tech: 1970 R/S Camaro

Engine:2004 LQ4 6.0L stroked from 364cu. to 403cu. with the use of K1 crank & rods also Wiseco pistons. Heads are cnc ported L92 with dual valve springs from Howards cams, also the custom ground cam comes from Howards Cams. The motor was machined & assembled by Wegners Motorsports along with a custom Wegner Motorsports accs. drive. I installed a Magnusen TVS 2300 blower making 7-8lbs. boost. The fuel is supplied by SX performance fuel pump , filters & regulator. We chassis dynoed it at West Bend Dyno Tuning & made 594h.p. at 6100rpm. & 554ft.lbs trq. at 4100 rpm(at the tires) with a safe 17degs. of timing at it. The Becool custom radiator makes sure temps stay in check.

Transmission: T56 Magnum from Tremec , with a SPEC twin disc clutch & Hurst shifter handle.

Suspension: Heidts pro-G chassis in front with QA1 double adjustables, Rear is a Heidts prototype I.R.S. (that should be ready for sale real soon) with QA1 double adjustables also. The center section was supplied by Randy's Ring & Pinion ,it's a Yukon aluminum center with a Tru Track & 3.70 gear set.

The interior temps are kept comfortable with a Vintage Air Gen IV system.I also applied Lizard skin to keep temps from firewall & floor down & noise control. I keep controll with a Grant signiture series wheel & a Ididit tilt steering column. The stock pedals repkaced with a Wilwood balance bar clutch & brake pedal assembly with adjustment knob between seats.
