The car was purchase in 2004 from a dealer in North Carolina. Unfortunately it was at a time when I really had to have one. The prices of the 1st Gen Camaros as we all know have gone through the roof. Cars that were once worth about 12K were now suddenly worth 18K, and this car was no exception. I had thoroughly inspected the car the best I could and found all of the obviously flaws, but could not see all of the hidden ones. I like most everyone else, was on a budget and getting what I wanted would prove to be very difficult. I had talked the dealers price down a little but not nearly as much as I would have liked too. This car wasnt even the one I had originally come down for. The car I had been looking at was a maroon 1967 RS and the dealer was only asking 15K for it. I called him and told him that I was coming down there to look at it from Detroit, Michigan. When I reached Ohio and called him, he told me that a lady had come in and put $200 down on the car.

Now I was thinking really, he changed his mind about letting the car go for only 15K. The car was a real RS with the original 327, 4 speed Muncie and a 12 bolt rear end. However once I got there he let me drive it, and to be honest, I didnt want it anymore. The car shook really bad and didnt seem very fast. So I passed on it. The guy must have had 60 classic cars at his dealership all different makes and models. There was one that was back in the corner which I had been told was there a while by the porter who in his opinion this was a really good car. So I checked it out and saw that the quarter panel needed to be replaced and then decided I need to drive it to make a decision. When we took this car out it accelerated way better then the 67 and didnt shake at all. So I was pretty much sold on the car.

After all that I didnt even get to leave with the car though. I had to leave my check. He was worried that there was this big scam going around where thieves would make their own cashiers checks. So I left it there for 2 weeks and when the check cleared they shipped it back to Detroit. When it came everything was in order. The car worked great for the summer. In the winter I felt the need to go through the engine. I have a vibration at 70 mph so I took the engine apart and found it had 2 busted piston rings and a bad dampener. At this point I starting going through the car.

The car is now getting 20.4 MPH to the gallon since the install of the TKO 600.
