ROARVETTE

IDEA:

The concept of building this car came from trying to blend a Porsche 996 and a 427 Cobra. While the Porsche is a great car, it doesnt have the attitude. The Cobra with its side pipes and 500HP 427 side-oiler has attitude but not even a roof.

After driving 300 miles in pouring rain during the Texas 1000 Vintage Rally in the Cobra it was clear something else was needed.

Thus came the idea of the Roarvette.

Things it had to have:

  • More power than the Cobra, 500 HP minimum.
  • Good mileage on pump gas. Cobra 6MPG plus octane booster, Roarvette better.
  • Great brakes. Hard to beat the Porsche binders but still a goal.
  • Roof and AC.
  • Outrageous handling and real street toughness, potholes bumps and all.
  • You should hear it, way before you see it.

CONSTRUCTION PHILOSOPHY:

We didnt want a show car. The car is what it is. Yes it will be shinny, and look nice, but no mirrored firewalls, neon or video screens

Make the car reliable and strong. The frame is reinforced in every key area. The suspension mounting points are all strengthened. The 750 in. lbs. Front springs with adjustable lower A-Arm mounts for setting ride height are what Im talking about. Solid bushings in the suspension, heim joint adjustable rear suspension, large brakes, aluminum drive shaft, full roll cage and 5-point harness give the right feel to the car. The drive-train should be bullet proof and be capable of being driven across country after doing a couple of long burnouts.

AESTHETICS and COSMETICS:

The car was envisioned to look like a 64 Vette coupe, that had spent a couple of years at the gym pumping iron. The bodylines are as close to stock as you can get and still fit the tires and fuel injection system.
