Default Visiting Minneapolis, can you...

Minnesotans recommend any good speed shops to visit?

While I've got your attention, my wife and I are spending Christmas there, could you also recommend a nice restaurant for Christmas dinner?

I'm not much help, I'm a ways from there.... but if Randy or Matt don't chime in this thread, shoot them a message, they can definitely give you some ideas.

My girlfriend is originally from Spring Lake Park, not too far from Minneapolis. I'll see if she can't come up with anything good for ya on the eating side of things.

Cool

I'm not much for the fine dining, as I just like to go someplace without a drive thru. There is a few nice places near the Mega Mall, which everyone seems to visit when they are here. Matt (SpeedyV10) might now of some classier places to eat.

As for speed shops, there isn't a whole lot of those, either. TNT Specialties in Blaine or Hi Tech Motorsports in Elk River might be cool to visit for a little bit. There is the Ellingson Car Musuem in Rogers that has some nice cars to look at, too. If you like the go kart thing, there is a few indoor kart tracks that have the fast karts.

Enjoy the stay and let me know if you have any questions.
Randy

Thanks for the input Guys. Sorry to hear that there is no real speed shops. I was hoping to avoid the mail order houses and shipping across the border.

I have been to the Ellington Museum before, neat place to visit. Maybe I can drag the spouse along to see it.

I think that Randy pretty much nailed the speed shops in town. You might also try visiting Yesterdays Auto in Minneapolis (sales) as well as maybe BHP (Competition Engines) in Eagan, MN.

As far as resturaunts go, I highly suggest visiting TreVina in South Saint Paul. Their food is wonderful Italian-American....But they'll make you pretty much anything you want.

If you would like, The Carousel at the top of the Radisson would be a wonderful place to dine. I have not eaten there in quite some time but the view is spectacular (the whole resturaunt rotates) and you should be able to get a great view of Saint Paul.

Enjoy your stay and have a wonderful Holiday! I am sure that you will enjoy the Minnesota hospitality!

I'm not sure about the 'showrooms' or inventory that TNT would carry, but if you contact them or (MAS racing in St. Paul), they should be able to get the parts and might even have them on the shelf. Both places are highly respected for service, prices, and taking care of the customer.

Hi Tech Motorsports isn't too far from Ellingson and has a classic car sales showroom, inground dyno, engine dyno, clean room, showroom, and service area. Most everything is customer friendly and they love to show you around the place. http://www.hitechmotorsport.com/

Randy, Matt & bmxmom,

Thank you very much. You've already made my trip a little easier and more enjoyable. I hope that some day I can return the favor.

My best to all of you this holiday season.
