Twin turbo 69
Building a twin turbo camaro and was trying to see what best route would be for fuel tank. I want to use an external pump because I have one. It needs to support 1500 hp. Thanks for any input.

What's the question here? If you're using an external and have a pump to support it, any tank will do. Sump the original.
Most here will likely recommend intank pumps. Lot of technology to be had and very possible to support 1500hp with an intank setup (probably multiple pumps intank) |
You are looking at alot of aggravation by trying to use that pump you already have. Say goodbye to it. The Mule had twin turbos and external pumps were a nightmare. Unless you are on the throttle you are bypassing most of the gasoline, slowly heating it up and returning it to the tank. When it gets hot enough you will kill that pump you wanted to use. Spend the money on a Ricks tank with proper in tank pumps with a Vaporworks controller. Alot of those external pumps are great for supporting big hp but usually only for drag cars that don't run extended periods of time.....If you are just doing a drag car ignore what I posted.:G-Dub:

EFI cars need a collector, whether it's internal or external. 1500 HP forced inducted is a BIG pump. Be careful when you look at the different pumps available for flow vs. voltage. They like to publish numbers at very high voltages.
I'm running a little more power than you are, and use a Holley VR2 main pump with two smaller lift pumps to "charge" the collector. Because my engine will very rarely be at that power level, a single pump would be too large for the reduced power; just heating and returning 95% of the fuel. The VR2 is essentially four fuel pumps, two individual pumps with a "high/low" function. This lets you supply the right amount of fuel without constantly compressing, heating, and returning excessive amounts. It is a custom built 572 that made 950 flywheel with a procharger at 4.5 lbs boost. That will be the mild end and should be capable of 2000. I am using 78mm precision turbos and I am sure most of the time it will be in the 950hp range but don't want to limit anything because of fuel flow.

Why not a mechanical pump setup on that car?

Don't know. How well does that work on yours.

Mine isn't mechanical but a friends trans am is. Worked no issues to 1500 rear wheel on e85.
