LS3 mass airflow sensor placement

For those using the Spectre air intake tube are you cutting the tube and inserting the LS3 sensor. I have read it needs to be 10" away from the intake. It is in a 1969 Chevelle.

A friend that builds ls motors for me always says put it in at least a 6" straight piece of tubing at least 10" from throttle body.

Thanks, yes I knew that, but are builders cutting the 4" pipe in half to mounting it there? Speartech sent MAF sensor #15904068.

LS3 should have a mounting boss and blade style MAF, in my experience. I've put in those crate engine ones from GM and they come with this style mounting boss.

instructions are on page 2 in the bottom left for installing the boss:

and the boss is directional.. that's important to note!

The MAF you had a part number of is generally used for the GEN IV engines.. LS1/LS6 and trucks up to 06 (and 07 Classic)..
