outside door mirror / gasket fit '68 Camaro

Is this the best gasket fitment with 1968 Camaro chrome rectangular mirrors that I will find? It bothers me to see so much of the gasket - I wish the gasket outline was a better match to the base.

Are there other options? Any ideas?

Does it not fit great? I had the same issue.. I dont know how the original is compared to it.

My front bumber is an reproduction, it looks like they have grinded it with an angle grinder before chroming, looks awful! But it is shiny and new atleast! And CHEAP.

But to be honest, it is not unexpected... Many things must be adjusted and modified to fit or look good.. I have found out that is just the way it is. So I dont get surprised when I open the box.

And if you have the possibility to choose between budget or quality stuff. NEVER choose the budget edition Then it is better to save the money and buy Ice cream for them instead :D

But atleast you can get stuff new, that is better than nothing, a "shiny" poor fitting thing is sometimes better than what you have or especially nothing at all. :)

Wierd,

My OER mirrors gasket fits much better than that. It is just slightly longer than the mirror base on the larger end but the rest of it is snug against the base.

My gaskets came with the replacement OER mirrors.

Since then I've changed to the clear shot mirrors which also came with good fitting gaskets.

I see the problem.... stated on that gold sticker on the box.

After that -- hot rodding parts is what hot rodding is all about. First rule of hot rodding - ya gotta cut to cure. LOL

Yup, it probably looked real good to the 12 year old kid in Taiwan who threw it in the box. I'd try finding a NOS part.

Bought mine from firewheel. I think they fit fine

Someone indicated the problem was that we wanted the rib base but come to find out the same gasket fits well with the Morris Classic mirrors. When I got the mirrors, the inside base has the Scott Drake stamp.

Our shop has taken a lot of care to fix the crummy aftermarket issues and this mirror/gasket was like the littlest joke - proving not a single thing can just work out of the box!

Nailed it! Purchased the Clear Shot and the fit is great. The mirror base actually fits the shape of the gasket.

That option was on the table. Also thought about having a 3D printer make a better gasket.
