Dominion Industrial Band Saw.....worth anything????
I've got an older Dominion DS 50 industrial band saw. It's just like this one http://yukon.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sel...AdIdZ525076385 Does anyone know anything about these? Right now it's not working. I tried plugging it in and there's no power. I'm assuming it needs a new motor. Is it worth replacing the motor? Would I get anything if I fixed it and sold it? Or should I just haul it off to the dump? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A "decent" Asian 64.5" dry saw will run $300-$375 new. Far from a high quality accurate cutting saw. After owning one I'd be lost without one.
This one looks to be a lot higher quality than what I've got so I'd say it's worth making operational. If sold as is I wouldn't exactly give it away. |
Mike -- Make sure it's not some "industrial" voltage or phase!
I bought a Baldor grinder once -- and it arrives and it's 208V…. and that's a non starter. |
Sorry -- should have read the post ------ I thought you were interested in BUYING it --- not selling one.
The electrical still could be as I stated above which is why it won't run? |
FWIW, I just bought an old horizontal from some friends of mine. The catch, it was three phase. I bought a converter for $100 and it works like a charm!
Check the label on the motor. Jeff- |
