Who wants a black box in they're car, guess what! If you drive a newer model ,you most likely all ready have one and it may be a standard on 100% of US new models. WTF!! Read full story

I did a Pickup a long time ago C3 GM if I remember . Motor broke the firewall . no bag deployment . Someone came down and took the box .
I put a new frame under it .

They are designed to only record the info it was monitoring a few seconds before a crash occurs. You have to remove the box from the car to annalyse the stored info too. It's really not as nefarious as it sounds. I'd worry if they expanded the capabilities of the box and used it as a real time monitor that can be accessed remotely.

But if they are under constant recording / or remotely accessed they will not release that info to the general public.
It should be your option to have one or not.

There was a case in Florida a few years ago, a guy lost control of his Trans Am and wrecked it, the police downloaded the info from his computer and used the information to prosecute him for speeding and wreckless driving.
Sounds like no big deal but this is a violation of privacy when your own car can be used as evidence against you, even if you were using it on public streets. The ACLU jumped in with 4th and 5th amendment claims, not sure what ever happened with those challenges...
