New Adj. Rate Rear Swaybars from Hellwig
We`ve been doing some consulting with Hellwig lately and I thought you guys might enjoy a look at some of their trick new products. They`ve made swaybars for muscle cars, trucks etc. for years but their latest generation is really outstanding stuff. All their bars are hot die forged, heat treated 4140 chrome moly for durability and light weight.
Their new signature pieces are a line of adj. rate rear bars with modern OE style end links. They have 3 position adjustment (soft, med.,firm) to tune the handling of the car and the end links install really neat and clean. They have a textured hammertone finish that retains grease and reduces bushing contact area for smoother movement and no squeaking. Naturally they have a selection of front bars to match,in various sized for tunability. Here are a few pics of the 1st Gen Camaro adj. rear bar. They also have them for everything from Tri 5 Chevys to Mopars and Mustangs. We`re helping them with some more GM applications as we speak including an adj. rate rear bar for `62-`67 Chevy II ! Those with a Heidts or Chassisworks front end and leaf springs can finally upgrade the rear suspension as well. It`s made to work with the Chassisworks G-Bar 4 link as well. We`re really excited about these bars! http://www.scandc.com/hellwigswaybars.htm http://www.scandc.com/images/1st-Gen...bar_medium.jpg http://www.scandc.com/images/Camaro-...led_medium.jpg http://www.scandc.com/images/Camaro-...nks_medium.jpg |
I need them for my DSE mini tubt first gen!!!!!! will they fit?????
|
It should fit just fine, the DSE kit doesn`t move the unibody rails and there`s lots of room at the spring pads. We even run them with G-Bar 4 link suspensions. Mark SC&C

They mount the same way with a G Bar as they would on a leaf spring car. If you look at the pics and note the location of the axle mounts and end link location on the unibody you can tell if they`ll fit with any other suspension. We have clients running them with the G Bar on Camaros, Mustangs and Mopar B bodys with great results. We`ve been running and testing a prototype bar like similar to this one on our G-5 Cutlass for about 5 years now. The nice things is that the range of adj. is pretty large so you can compensate for various geometry/spring rate/sway bar rate combinations that are used in the front and get the car balanced the way you want it. We often see components from various manufacturers mixed and matched (which will often yield the best package for a given car) but to make them work best together you need to have some tunability in the system. These bars are a great way to dial a package in.
