House of Kolors
Hey guys newbe here.Great forum and lots of info.
I did a search and really couldn't find the answer to my question. I'm having a custom 67 Mustang fastback restomod built. All the good stuff including an aluminum Carroll Shelby 427SO. Anyway, the builder uses HOK paint/materials.I know I want the car the brightest,arrest-me-red possible.I've narrowed my choice down to HOK blue blood red. My question:is my color choice a very bright red with no orange or brownish tint.Is there a link or post where I could see a car painted this color? Any info about my color choice would be greatly appreciated. |
You might want to ask Carter Hickman . He might be able to help you .Look him up in the Artwork and Collectible section. He has something to do with HOC I think.

HOK Blue blood red is my favorite red. I don't think it is the brightest red but it has so much depth and so rich but still pretty bright. I think you would be very happy with that color. It is a 3 stage paint job though so it will cost a little more but I think it will be worth it. Maybe someone will have some pics to show.

I didn't know it was a 3 stage paint.I thought it was a two stage.I told the builder to go ahead with my color choice. They sprayed the undercarraige last nite.Tomorrow they will sand and polish it.They did say the color is fantasic though.
Next week I'll be flying out to Minnesota to watch the rest of the car get painted.I also chose HOK pearl white for the stripes. Thanks for the input guys. |

Very nice Tony:thumbsup:
I can certainly see the depth of color even on a computer screen.Couple questions though, did you spray a white basecoat first then the red? It's hard to tell but is there any orange tint to it? Thanks for post a pic of that beautiful car. |
Here you go. http://kdhotrods.com/Willys_Gallery.html Great car and really great photos that really show you the true color.
You won't have any regrets. It's a great color. |

Thanks JayR, The underside and engine bay has been sprayed on my car and just from the photos the builder emailed it's a beautiful red.I'm very pleased with it.I'm flying to Minnesota next week to watch it get painted.Dang, just the HOK materials were $2830.00 so they are proud of their products. The stripe will be HOK pearl white. |
I called House of Kolor today and they have discontinued selling the Blue Blood Red. It is not in the catalog. They still have the Kosmos Red, which he said there was not that much of a color difference. When I called the supply house they told me the Kosmos Red was a single stage paint. Is that Kosmos Red a base coat or single stage paint and is there any color difference? Can you still get the Blue Blood Red anywhere?

The kosmos red is a single stage paint. How close the color match with Blue blood and Kosmos I really don't know. That is strange that blue blood red is not available from your source when it's available here in Denver. |
