Question for all 66-67 GM A-Body owners
What tire n wheel combo you guys running?what sizes and backspacing and if any mods to fit big wheels under there?
Thanks |
I've got a '67 El Camino, and I am running a 19"/20" combo. 19 X 8.5 front (245/35-19, with 5.25" backspace), 20 X 9.5 rear (285/30-20, with 4.5" backspace). I have Wilwood brakes at all 4 corners, and I have narrowed the rear end 1" per side. No body/fender well mods.

frt = 17x8” w/ 4.25” BS; 245/45ZR17 rr = 17x9.5” w/ 5.625” BS; 275/40ZR17 Baer brakes frt and rr on stock 12-bolt, rolled fender lips to clear tires. |
Front: 18x9 with 5"BS and 255/35-18.
Back: 18x10 with 5.5BS and 285/35-18. Nothing has been customized, just bolted on the wheels. https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=9900 Alex |
Not wide enough but I will go bigger later. These are 18 x 7 and 18 x 8 225/45's and 255/45's. IMO 18's look the best on the 64-67 abodys

All you guys running a rear 10" rim with a 295 tire,how much clearance would you say you have on each side?
Thanks |
I´ve got a 285 on a 10" and theres no problem at all, maybe ½" at both sides.

I got about 1/4 give or take on each side with a 10" rim and a 295 tire backspacing on the rim is 5.75
Thanks |
