I am going through this same build area.

Can you post how the lower seems from quarter to rear panel came out? both sides level and what was gap?
Like how you got the trunk line perfect using a cut on quarter. and the metal on roof to quarter is way better than lead fill. Mine has a small crack in it. Not sure I can weld it up as well as you did. You have probably been doing this for a long time by the quality of the work.

syborg tt 04-22-2020 09:08 PM

Incredible craftsmanship.

Thank you so much for sharing and I can’t wait to see more.

I didnt take pic of that for the moment but this gap is a little more than 1/4. I will work on this later.

Goosesdad 04-23-2020 09:58 AM

Awesome! Since you choose to replace the roof lead, wonder if you would share your decision process? I've heard solid arguments both ways. Mine seems to be pretty solid, no cracks or separation, so I've been advised (by a pretty conservative paint expert) to leave it alone. Wonder your thoughts.

its just a preference for me. I prefer steel over lead but I'm not a body repair expert.
Time will tell if I take the good choice.
Some guy here use all metal, so I think lead or sheet metal is definitely a better choice.
Btw, I will be happy if my car is half cool of yours, your built impress me.

slimjim 04-23-2020 07:24 PM

I think we were all being hustled, this build is fantastic, keep posting, you're doing amazing work

WSSix 04-23-2020 07:27 PM

Fantastic work on the car. Keep up the great work. Are you planning on a quadralink in the rear?

Looks good, but are you sure those areas are strong enough to support the car?

front are subframe boxes and rear are leaf boxes, I think that would be strong enough. Time will tell

streetbird 05-08-2020 04:20 PM

Little work today. I made my bumper braces and install it.
I also finish my fuel lines, brake line and some mouting point for my fuel pump setup

Great work. Did you replace the rockers? What did you paint the inner structure with before putting the quarters on? Epoxy primer/or epoxy paint I hope.

streetbird 05-22-2020 05:16 AM

Someone got a quadralink sway bar and can take a measurement for me?
I need to know the width of the bar, I have some news later.
Thanks

34.25”

Goosesdad 05-22-2020 08:37 AM

Mine is 34.0" outside to outside. Flanges are 3/8" thick.

streetbird 05-22-2020 09:03 AM

thanks guys
I think it will clear my lower shock mount brackets. I will measure it and if it clear I will relocate my previous fuel lines.

I change my mind a little and decide to go for a more pro touring style but still on leafs. I hope that the leaf will give me a little bit of race feeling.

More to come soon.

Thanks for interest, it give me a lot of motivation

streetbird 05-22-2020 10:09 AM

I plan to use speedtech road assault front kit.
Any suggestion for the rear sway bar size?
3/4, 1 or 1 1/8 inch size.

From my measurements I got 34-35'' between my shock mount plates.
Maybe the plate will need a little trim to clear but I think it will fit

streetbird 05-28-2020 04:10 PM

I ordered 1'' rear sway bar and the hooker t56 tunnel hump, need to install it and i'm ready to prime this. That was a lot of job.

I love bare metal

syborg tt 05-29-2020 04:36 PM

The progress pictures look fantastic. What rear suspension are you planning to use as most 2nd Gen don’t use sway bars.
