Lateral-G Sema party 2014 poll and feedback

8 Attachment(s)
As most of you are aware, we had a Lateral-G Meet and Greet during Sema week 2013 at Margaritaville. I would appreciate those of you that attended giving feedback in regards to the get together. We had approximately 130 people attending the event, held on the second floor in a private room at Margaritaville. The room holds 150 people max, so we were close to capacity.

It's time to get the room locked down for this years Sema event, and we're trying to decide on doing the same room or opting for the third floor which holds up to 300 people. It's more expensive obviously, so we need to find out how many are planning on attending to figure out how much room we need. We'd also love to hear feedback from those who attended last years event, to see if you liked the venue and food.

The advantage of the second floor is you're inside with one wall all windows for a nice view of the strip. Weather and temps don't matter. But it is limited to 150 people max.

The third floor handles double the people, 300 max. It's open, no ceiling with a great view of the strip. The disadvantage would be if it rained or was real cold, which can happen in Vegas in November. They do provide heaters, and claim that if it's cold out the heaters are plenty to keep everyone comfortable. However if it rains ... :ohsnap:

We hold our meet and greet on Wednesday of Sema week, so this year it's be held on 11-5-14, from 7pm to 10pm. It's a casual setup with an all you can eat fajita bar going all night, and our own private bar and hostesses. Drinks are on you, but the food is included in the $25 price. You are free to bounce from table to table meeting old friends and making new ones. It's a great way to finally meet people you interact with on Lateral-G all year.

So basically, let us know if you will be at Sema this year and plan to make the party. The total will kind of guide us in regards to room choice. Here's a slideshow of last years event to give you an idea of what is going on.

You know there is a kick ass mexican food place not to far from the strip that one of my customers takes us to every time. I wonder if we could improve food quality and lower the price by going some where off the strip. Or is the strip convinience worth the cost.

GregWeld 04-29-2014 05:18 PM

I just go for the people.

The food or the place --- whatever, doesn't make much difference to me.

We always get such a nice friendly, warm, welcome......

Hope he doesn't wear the same shirt this year.

2013 get together was far better than the previous years.
I would say keep it the same for now. Maybe in a few more years we might out grow it, and need a bigger place.

DOOM 04-29-2014 07:02 PM

I'm in for whatever you decide!

ccracin 04-29-2014 07:08 PM

Dang it, I need to get there!

Lenie 04-29-2014 11:48 PM

Had a blast, will go again where ever.

modernbeat 04-30-2014 09:21 AM

Most of the time I go to meet-and-greets it's WAY too loud to converse with new friends. I'd try to find a place that keeps the noise down to a low roar and does not add additional blaring music.

Haven't been to Margaritaville, so I don't know if it's the super-loud type, or just the marginally-loud type of place. But I'm there to meet people, not party, and noise makes it harder.

Im in. Hope to put a face to all the screen names !!!

I'll let others speak for the noise level, to me it was not an issue. Although Margaritaville can be loud downstairs when a band is playing live, we were upstairs in a private room.

It's only loud when Charley and Mario show up.... oh and Blake and Roger.... er and um... Jody and Jim and Stuart get there.... and Sieg and Ken and SW start talkin'.... and Brian and Tara and Lenie start drinking... or when Howell wants to auction something... and then Braga and Tim start bidding... and then it jumps a few more decibels when Dr Renner and his minions (Dave and Todd and Rob and BadRon) arrive... It gets quiet when Sutton speaks - but that doesn't last long 'cause then MattA and Brett and Bret launch into a tuning session (tires and chassis not guitars and drums).... When you see Mark L swing into action you can take it up another notch... It's probably pushing the 105db limit when Rodger and Kenny have their second beer...and then Hickman and Mike start talking design and paint that's good for another db.... Then Dale and Sieg get into techno talk.. good for a 1/2.... so now you're at 106.5..... It starts to go sideways when Ned and RobW do their "cat" breakdance... Well... you get the picture.

clill 04-30-2014 01:18 PM

Perfect location. I like the fajita bar.

There was a fajita bar???

The check in guys had filets. Sorry you missed the memo.

Nice spot, keep it. Id rather see the money spent on food options than a larger room. I think it should be announced that 150 is max, so buy early to get a spot or else you may not get in.

Nice avatar.

It took you sometime to put all that together, sheesh! Good job ! LOL

Code510 05-01-2014 04:24 PM

I went for the first time last year and had a good time. The food was good as well. Unfortunately I had some prior obligations, so I could only stay from about 7-8:30 or so.

If I can, I'd love to make it there this year....but too early for me to know my schedule.

So I voted "maybe." Not because I don't want to go, just because I don't know if I'll be able to go.

I had a great time, I just wish I could remember who I met,I'll be there this year:cheers: :lateral: :lateral:

Last year was great! Definitely works better having the private room with food versus previous years taking over some poor guy's hotel watering hole with one bartender that can't keep up.

Jay Hilliard 05-05-2014 05:29 AM

I plan on attending my first SEMA this year. Can't wait to meet everyone.

Well look at Weld's leg. It's basically straight which means he is basically standing. :D

GregWeld 06-04-2014 08:54 PM

I just realized how much hair I have compared to SW and Kenny Davis.... and they're half my age... LOL

JMitch19 06-11-2014 12:16 AM

I brought a few friends with me last year who are building cars but don't venture online much. We all had a great time. I know they have been checking out the site more than they have in the past and they enjoyed meeting more like minded people.

We will try and make again where ever you decide to have it.
