67 El Camino Garage Build~

Hey Everyone,
Well I thought it was finally time to start a build thread for my car. I bought this car when I was in San Diego working at best of show coach works with the intention of it being my D/D and working on it on the weekends. And thats exactly what I did until my Now wife, daughter and I picked up our things and moved to Bellingham, Wa to Run my In-Laws Paint store. That's when my time working on the car came to a halt. So In one year, we got Married, moved to WA with new jobs, bought a house, and were pregnant with my son. Wheew! Long story short My little boy is 8 months now and letting us sleep through the night so, the last week I've been dedicating 1 hr a night to the car, and I'm finally making progress again. SO I'm gonna make a point to post pictures of my progress, and to keep motivated to get the car done. The attached pic is what I started with for $1500, rusted out floors and a mangled front pass fender.

Fast forward a little while. Rupp did and install article on the car for a full CPP Suspension kit with Big Brakes and a quick ration steering box. Man what a difference from the worn out suspension and manual drum all around. Also got some 17" vintage wheelworks and new rubber for the car. Thanks Steve

I remember riding around it it when it was a Flintstone mobile with holes in the floors.

Awesome car, Gordz. I also have a '67 El Camino and your car is the inspiration for my build. How much wheel back spacing were you able to get away within on the CPP kit?

Bringing this back from the Dead. So life happened and i got married and had kids, and businesses and a home to remodel. But I'm tired of work not getting done on the car so I'm trying to get one thing done a night and eventually it'll get done. I've put new floors in, cleaned and undercoated the car with raptor liner. The chassis has been blasted and painted and all new fuel and brake lines have been run. Now that the body is back in the chassis, firewall smoothed and the front end has been fitted and the whole car has been body worked and I'm ready to spray my last coat of high build primer this weekend. It been an agonizing decision but I've decided on F8 Green for color. I had an old friend Michael Castiglione do up a rendering for me and it came out great. Just scored a set like new Recaro seats as well. Also recently mounted the derale trans cooler with shroud and fan behind the front bumper on the passenger side.

Hey all,
Coming into the home stretch. Its almost done. I've been driving it everywhere shaken it down and fixing any bugs that come up. This car is pretty sweet and I love it, But I'll be putting it up for sale shortly. Needing to fun College tuition for my Daughter shortly. The Holley Sniper System is impressive and soooo much more drivable then before. 12 bolt was rebuilt with trutrac and 3.73 gears. I've installed the Gearvendors unit and had a new 4" aluminum driveshaft from Inland empire made. Finished wiring the highway 22 kit, Installed the interior. Had a pro come in and install the new clear front and back glass. I installed the interior, only piece left is waiting for the backorder kick panels shipping next week.

camcojb 09-20-2022 06:32 PM

What a great car!!!!!!! I love it.

Gordz32 09-20-2022 06:45 PM

WSSix 09-21-2022 07:36 PM

Roscoe03 09-22-2022 01:27 PM

Great looking El Camino!

mc1984ss 09-25-2022 11:42 AM

what a great car! love all of it, the color the wheels, underneath and under the hood! Congratulations! After painting it in the garage what are your thoughts? I see you had it vented with a fan out the window. Did you have the overhead door cracked open and a fan pulling fumes out the window? Would you do it again?

Gordz32 10-09-2022 08:01 PM

Hey thanks. Yes I spent a bunch of time cleaning the garage,. Put plastic up over all the things stored on one side. I also went the floor down before painting to keep overspray and dust doen. Would totally do it again. Yes I cracked the door about 5 minutes after spraying.

mc1984ss 10-14-2022 08:18 PM

Thank you!

Sorry if I missed not but what gears are in it and are you happy with them?

jarhead 10-19-2022 07:04 AM
