Banks Twin Turbo SBC kit

Has anyone used the banks kit. I'm interested in getting one for my 396sbc but would like to know who has used it and with what kind of success. I read on LS1 tech that one guy that installed it on a 383 made 650 hp and was not impressed with it. Any feedback would be great.

I haven't used one, but I have a brand new kit for sale. I don't need it, as I'm going the LSX route. I'll make you a killer deal on it.

Email me with the details. I know they changed the manifolds about a year ago. Is yours the older or newer kit

i bought part of the kit and it works very good on my 383 i have the old style manifolds not the new bigger ones

I wouldnt touch anything from banks with a 10ft pole.

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

I've used their products and seen the products work well for years. Go look at the World Record Runs at Bonneville and El Mirage, that the Banks Powered Cars/Trucks have made.

You don't get those records using Crap Products!

Im sure back then Banks WAS good. But now its just the same old crap with their name slapped on it to up the price. Now this is coming from my experience with the diesel performance market. Nothing they offer can out perform for the price products from the other Diesel Performance oriented companys such as TS, DI, Elite, etc...

FYI: I found the guy you are talking about and he has a VERY old kit. He has manifolds and turbos from what appears to be the late 1980's.

Having said that and having worked there I would have to agree with T70stang. When it comes to their diesel product they are no longer the leaders in the market, they like to follow now IMO. Most of what you see in print and in magazines from Banks is not available over the counter. The Camaro, Funny Car and sidewinder projects are built through the "Banks Race Shop" which is seperate from Gale Banks Engineering. Sure they are at the same facility and owned by Gale but the people employed in the race shop have very little to do with parts that are sold to customers. These vehicles and parts are for promotional purposes only. The only exception is the black street truck powered by the 6.0 SBC TT and even it has parts on it that aren't available with the TT kit.

I agree. Being new to the diesel owners market (bought an 07.5 LMM Duramax a couple months ago) they do not appear to be the leaders in the diesel market like they once were.
