Wait at Curtis.. if you have a t56 magnum already you already have 31 spline..
Asking because I am just about to order my driveshaft.. and according to research.. 31 spline comes on t56 magnum.

Ummmm... Yes & No. This is a confusing conversation to have and I've learned a lot the past few days. Thankfully some great people where willing to edumakate me.

So there is the T56, T56 Magnum and the T56 Magnum-F (I think there is also a T56 Magnum XL).

I currently have a 93-02 4th gen T56 that was rebuilt with a Stage 2 Kit. It has a 27 spline slip yoke. The T56 Magnum and T56 Magnum-F require a 31 spline slip yoke.... so you are correct in that part.

The T56 Magnum-F is a new version of the T56 Magnum (which is basically a TR6060.. for the most part) that is designed to be a direct replacement for the 93-02 4th gen T56.

The T56 Magnum and the T56 Magnum-F differ in that the "F" has three ways to mount the shifter and the tail housing is different. I'm sure there are more, but that was my takeaway.

Basically the "F" doesn't require any tunnel mods for me and will be a direct bolt in. (fingers crossed)

Clear as mud...right!

I just did the same swap ("Regular" T-56 out... Magnum F-Body in).
In my case, I also went from the LT pull-style clutch (with external slave cylinder) to a twin disc DYAD and hydraulic TO bearing. The clutch swap required a deeper bell housing which pushed the trans back about 1.5". This also moved my trans mount and shifter location back the same 1.5". But the trans locations for the mount and shifter were the same between the old T-56 and the Magnum F.
My tunnel was modified and has plenty of room for either, but FWIW the clearances seem similar on both tranny's.
I also needed a new driveshaft, both because of the beefier output shaft of the Magnum, and that pesky 1.5" deeper bell housing. I had been running a steel driveshaft on the T-56, now went to an aluminum shaft.
If you're not changing bell housings, the swap should be a straight bolt-in.

Prices on pretty much all Tremec products will increase $100 after next week for the 2021 sales year. If you are on the fence to get a T56 Magnum..... get on it!

I’ve done the swap in my Chevelle, and it’s a direct bolt in, minus the driveshaft yoke needing changed because of spline count...which was included with the trans purchase. Exact same size as t-56, and shifters interchange. Shifts so much better than the t-56. Bought it through gnx7 (Mark) last Christmas. Can’t believe it’s been a year already!

Can confirm the Magnum-F is a direct swap in a 69 Camaro with regard to the physical size/location of the transmission when compared to a T56 out of a 98-02 F-Body.

This should be the only Tremec Magnum transmission (Magnum-F) anybody with a first generation Camaro should be considering when swapping to a T56 nowadays.

I agree 100%

I just did the f-body standard T-56 6-speed to a Magnum-F in a 69 Camaro the tunnel wasn't modified and the standard T-56 fit fine but now the new Magnum-F is hitting the top of the tunnel. Seems the two other shifter positions are hitting the top of the tunnel. The shifter was a little bit further back. Also the trans cross member had to be moved back and now is hitting the passenger side exhaust.

The stock shifter that comes with the transmission is leaking too.
