Thanks guys.

Beautiful job AJ.

We're loving the creativity and out-of-the-box thinking here. Its easy to throw together a build using parts that are readily available, but true dedication to make something completely custom and unique!

Thanks guys, lots of cutting coming soon. I did some rough measurements and I think what I'm planning just might work out like I hoped it would.

We need a like Button   |
Work was slow yesterday so I had some time to finish the passenger door handle. It too needs some hammer and dolly work, but it's mostly there.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...o/IMG_0670.jpgh Then I got the oil tank area cleaned up and ready to fit the tank in once I order it. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...o/IMG_0669.jpg Then I finished removing the EDP coating from the door http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...o/IMG_0671.jpg That's all for now. Hopefully going to pick up some new to me suspension today so I can start getting that handled. |
Long story short, when I started this project originally I had something specific in mind. Basically I let people talk me out of what I wanted and into some choices I didn't really want when it came to my car. So after debating a lot about things with cost and how much of a set back it is, I decided that I can always make more money and I'd rather be happy in the end instead of regretfull.
So, here we go, starting all over with the suspension. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...o/IMG_0674.jpg A friend of mine wanted my speedtech front clip and as luck would have it, he had the full front and rear suspension, transaxle, torque tube, and a bunch of other parts from a '04 C5 Z06. We made a deal in which we both came out ahead and I got a little extra cash to help offset materials cost for the mods. Now for the measurements, they are really close. As in borderline it might be possible to not cut suspension or outer body panels with a custom offset wheel. I'll be calling forgeline Monday to see how close I can get. This is where the stock offset wheels sit. They need to move in about 1.5" http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...o/IMG_0675.jpg This is just a rough setup to get some measurements off of while I wait for the stock vette rear frame to show up. Based off a XLR we had at work I got some measurements off of, the outside to outside frame rail is 10" to wide to use in my car. However the inside to inside measurement does indeed fit inside the stock '69 outer rockers so I'd be able to run 2x3 or possibly 2x4 square tube in the rocker and use stock C5 fuel tanks as well. More to come on that as I get the car braced up, a frame jig built, and more cut out of the car. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...o/IMG_0676.jpg |
