View Full Version : Trunk Battery Leaking, How can I neutralize the acids?
I just opened up the trunk and the cheapo battery is leaking. Is there anything I can use that will neutralize the acid so that it doe not corrode the sheetmetal?
TIA..

Coca Cola, if you have any, works well at neutralizing battery fluids. It just gets sticky when it dries up. You can also mix about a table spoon of baking soda in a cup of water. That's also what you should use to clean off the corrosion from the battery posts as well.
Thanks Allen
Just the info I need.

As mentioned, sprinkle baking soda all over the affected area, rinse, brush, and repeat. You might have to do this a few times.
When the baking soda stops bubbling you can be pretty sure that all residual acid has been neutralized.

What Blown said! use baking soda, coke is corrosive in its own right. Pick up some Ph test strips to test the area and keep at it with the baking soda until the area tests neutral.
