View Full Version : Anyone ever want to build an off-the-wall daily driver?

I drive a 1995 Park Avenue Ultra as a daily driver. I want to keep the miles off of the 98 TA, and the 79 TA will never be a comfortable driver, so I bought this because we were having a kid and I wanted 4 doors.

Now I hate this car. Everyone laughs at me, I despise the FWD, and I think I've only had my son in it maybe twice, if that. The car is also currently down because of a broken water inlet that put me on the hook for a ride home. Now I'm finding all this crap that was hacked together and I tore the topend down to fix it. Nothing sucks worse than spending time and money on a car you hate.

I love to set up my cars to handle nicely. I've set up both my cars with good suspensions, but this Buick is like an elephant on roller skates.

I would LOVE to find an old 4-door like a Catalina or something like that, something I can pick up cheap, and then redo the suspension, and set it up like a nice handling car, and then daily drive the hell out of it.

Am I nuts?

Maybe you're seeing why wagons have gained so much popularity. They really are functional, and most have four doors. They can be fine daily drivers, too.

Here's the link to pics of mine. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11929667@N00/sets/72057594110671642/

It was a daily for a long time while I was on the West Coast. Now that I'm in the Midwest, it's a summer toy. But, it can be a fine daily when there's no snow on the ground.

I went a little overboard on it, but you get the idea.

Hell yeah, if we didn't get such brutal winters up here I'd be driving something like that myself.
