What are you guys getting for 0-60 times on 17" or larger wheels/tires?? I am embarressed to even say my time. I need a time to shoot for a goal??

I need a twin disc clutch. That's all I have to say.

short sidewalls do not do anything for traction.. but with that said a drag radial 275/40-17 or simmillar should be possible to get some good times on, but unless your rear brakes dictate big.. you could drop down to 15 inch rear rims on the strip to get bigger contact patch..

i am also certain that suspension tuning, and practice could get in you in the high to mid 4 second rage in that car on what you are running, provided your tires grip...

a 3 somthing time is getting down there in 60 foot times.. but chevelles dont make bad drag cars, i doubt you will get there on michelin road race slicks, and definately not on cold ones...

i do think that if you are able to get that straight line performance it will at the expense of some cornering and over all handling performance.. you will need more weight transfer, meaning drag race shocks, and relocated trailing arms, and the more aggressive you set up the rear the more prone to wheel-hop it will be at breaking.. you will also need to disconnect the front antisway bar to get some more travel and a myriad of drag specific mods, and lastly. running a clutch you need to get the launch just right..

al of this is allong with soft drag race tires can get your 0-60 where you want and lower, but it wont be able to keep up with an EVO or STI in the corners..

In the next few days I will try to launch again. With no burnout, and jsut dunping the clutch a 4k, I got a 4.5 second 0-60. I need to find the sweet spot, it was almost a smoke show I had to pull second about 10 feet out to move. Dang stick shifts.:(

I have a 68 twin turbo camaro with a Mcleod twin disc clutch. It has 18" wheels with 295/35-18 Michelin pilot sport tires. My 0-60 times are in the low 4 second range if I slip the clutch through first gear( like a high stall converter) with no wheelspin.I would like to try other tires but I drive 40 miles a day.80-140 times are more impressive!

That s pretty good on 18's! I am hoping with a little more practice and some tune adjustments I can get in the 3 second range.

How do you like the twin disc?? A single disc clutch is tricky on the street.

Your going to need traction control or switch to an auto. Here is the best traction control unit period. I bet with about an hour of tuning you'll be pretty close to your goal. http://www.racelogic.co.uk/?show=Traction_Control

That would be on a Michelin Pilot or BFG KD type tire.

I have a race logic system, and a very smart gentleman in northern california is trying to modify my system to control 16 fuel injectors instead of the standard 8.

most do but are limited. I doubt it could handle his power level. On my twin turbo GTO it easily overran the limits of the traction control.

Twin disc works great. It is actually my second clutch. The first one was just a regular street twin from Mcleod. It acted just like a single disc. My new clutch is a borg & beck long pressure plate with bronze puck style discs. It works great on the street. Talk to Lee at Mcleod if you are interested.

Jody, would that be you? If so do you sell them?I've been thinking about some type of t.c.

My next big purchase will have to be wheels...

As far as traction control, I should try to mess around with the stock stuff, I will post if I have any luck.

give it a shot, but little chance it's going to work with that much power. The Racelogic system will work, and is going on my Chevelle.

No, I have the system myself and thought I may know who he's using to tune it.

I have not messed with it at all ever, so I will have to see what the limitations are. If I could get it to work even a little in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear that would help quite a bit.;)

Just looked at my software, I will be very limited with my setup for traction control with a cable throttle body, I think. Apparently it retards timing up to 50 degrees depending ont eh severity of wheel spin, very adjsutable but I am not sure the effects of retarding timing that much on my motor, does not sound like a real good thing to do, but I will have to try.
However, I swap to TBW, you can modulate throttle blade position based on the amount of wheel spin. That should work as good as any system on the market. You can control throttle position based on max torque desired for EVERY gear. Now I have something new to play with!!

My best 60 ft time on street radials (BFG Radial T/As 235/60/15 on my stock 15x7 wheels) with my 85 Mustang coupe and 320 hp was a 2.00 flat. I was very happy with that and that was with all the original suspension!

My 94 Z with 295/35/18 it will 60ft mid 3's,on et's it will 60 around 2 flat,so there about a 1.5 slower.a long burnout helps as does driving there the clutch.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about 0-60MPH times, not 60' times.

actually a 60' time can translate to a 0-60 time. I think a 1.2 60' time is 0-60 in about 1.2 seconds if I remember correctly.

Hell I thought you're talking 60 ft's,The 1st I made a pass on my 18's it shocked me to death how slower it was.
