What gives......... what would it take to have a west coast power tour say Seattle to LA or Las Vegas???
there must be a few hot rods between here (Vancouver BC) and Mexico that would be into it................. don't you think?
Maybe Popular hotrodding could sponsor it (to a point) but seriously there are like 45 million people on the west coast. do you think we could round up 300 cars to cruise the PCH?
i would be willing to try and help organize part of it!!!
any other takers
Steve
Jason
Devin
?????
anyone?

I'm not done yet with my car... almost but I am down for a west cost drive with stops in San Francisco/Napa would be a good stop then Paso Robles would be killer stop its mid state. They have nice down town for a car show slash cruise. Then Santa Barbra would be a cool stop. Then of to Los Angeles/OC.
I am willing to help organize

Steve,
Count me in but with all my irons in the fire can we scedule it for next year? I have not had time to work on it, so my scheduled shake down has been pushed back to Sept/Oct. BTW I will help with what ever needs to be done. I think the West Coast is the coolest drive by far.

Ummm, not the West Coast! Hasn't been this side of the Rockies since the first year or two and I wouldn't hold your breath for Hot Rod to come anywhere near us.
As for your idea, Blake. Count Devin and I in and Kenny can navigate from the back seat! We need to plan it with a show or something at the end of the road so what's going on noteworthy down South in the next few months?

In 2001 we started in Pontiac Michigan and ended in San Bernardino Ca. That was the last time out west.

Kenny i am sure you can round up something half assed to drive!! or take up Jayson's offer of beer goggle navigating from the back seat.
well ................... now what?
so jason? you and Devin are now signed up as official organizers.
i think if we tried to do anything this year it would have to be late in the season mid September ,but maybe just start to organize for next June or something like that
i think if we could set up something with towns along the way for a cruis in as we go through.................
any one interested in helping organize

I agree, it should be planned for next season so it can be well organized. Besides, that will give an incentive to those whose cars are not finished yet. This would be a great goal to get them done.
Jason, don't tell Devin yet. He won't be able to sleep for a year!!

Jason, let me know if you are seriously going to work on this deal. What about magazine coverage?

There is a muscle car cruise up the coast in California called the Muscle Car 1000. It seems to be pricey and is limited to 50 cars. Google "muscle car 1000". There is no website for it but there are a couple of articles and it was featured on Dream Car Garage a few weeks back. I think this was ther second year.

How the hell did that happen??? It was your idea! What about making any given Saturday morning at Ford design studios in Irvine the final destination? We'd fit right in with all the bad-ass exotics and it would allow for some scheduling flexibility.
Or what about a short one to the GoodGuys Pleasanton show in August for this summer? The only rub is that the cut-off for that show is 1954 so we'd all have to leave our cars in the parking lot but it really is a good show and the whole town is crawling with hot rods so we'd feel at home around town.
Some of you with sponsors might be able to get in a vendor booth there and get some brownie points too.
You're right, Charlie! I forgot about the 2001 Tour ending out West because I let my subscription lapse back then when Hot Rod turned into Car Craft. I think they noticed and started sending everyone with PHR subscriptions offers for $10/year and I re-upped.

I think the 2009 power tour will cross through california. This year it is ohio to arkansas. 2008 will probbaly be from arkansas to arizona. Then 2009 will be arizona up the west coast to washington.

I'm down with helping and attending...................
There are lots of good shops and manufacturers from Vancouver to Mexico that would make for a very cool run.....
Don't know what the hassles would be to start or end in Vancouver, but I think it would be cool......

Hey Guys, what about the Anti-Tour Car Craft does? Probably isnt as big as Power Tour, but might be cool. I think they do it because Power Tour doesnt go over the Rockies anymore.

Way to step up to the plate Jason, whatever you need, I can help you out:lol:
Seriouly guys its time for something on the left-coast. If you put it off a year, you could get the whole wedding thing done with and plan some really cool stops.
I can think of half a dozen shops right here in the NW-Chris

I'll be there. I still don't know how california, the *home* of hot rodding, is getting snubbed year after year for power tour. We have the best weather, and some of the most beautiful roads in the country. My wife and I'd LOVE to be part of anything that gets put together.
Count us in!

so how many cars can we get out???? i think just from vancouver to seattle we could easily get 1000 cars. easy........ there has never been anything like this arround here. if we advertised in Goodguys......... that would be easy. wouldnt be alot of pro touring cars but tons od hot rods, and there is nothing wrong with that!!! can you imagine????? i bet someone like NAPA and lucas oil ( i bet they would give EVERYONE oil for the whole trip but sponsor it also,
i KNOW art morrison would help out, Barrys HRRS popular hot rodding!!!! all the magizines, not just one all kinds of cars/trucks, how many other sponsors even here would kick in ..................
what do you guy think

If we are going to do it, we should have a main body to "assign" with the event.
"The Lateral-G West Coast Tour" or something................
I can't even imagine the logistics of setting the whole event up with regards to hotels for everyone etc............
Either way, I'm down for helping in any way that I can.
