Hey everyone! been kicking around this site for a while and let me tell tyou there are some awesome cars on here!

so i got a matching numbers 68 camaro with a 327/PG 2 years ago and have been contemplating what to do with it. i've kept changing my mind between restoring it stock and going custom. well i've made a decision and its going to be a stock style exterior and interior with non stock drivetrain and suspension. i've had a 2001 LS6 for a while now and just got 2 T56's so thats going to be my engine/trans combination. i want to use 5th gen corvette brakes and 17" wheels. the suspension i'm not sure of yet. still researching it.

anyways heres some pics of how it sits now.

nothing exciting. i'm replacing just about every body panel and it will be painted LeMans blue and have the stock vinyl top put back on and i think i'm going to go with a black bumble bee stripe and convert to RS headlights.

let me know what you think.

LOoks like you got a clean one to start with, it always makes it a nice build when the car is clean. Hopefully when you strip it down there isnt much rust. Good luck

Looks like a nice start :) . Why are you replacing "just about every body panel" is there rust that we can't see in the pics?

Looks like a killer start for a PT project.

Since you already have all the LSX/T56 and C5 brakes, take a look at our product lineup. We have spindles that will make the car handle like its on rails and will accept those C5 brakes, and we make bolt in LSX/T56 kits.

Welcome to Lateral-G!

not really any rust except for the the left frame rail is rotted out, but more because of bad body work that was done about 20 years ago.
starting with the front the left fender is original and has lots of mud in it. the right side is a horrible after market peice that dosnt fit right. you can see how it dosent line up with the right headlight bezel in the straight on pic. the hood is in great condition though.
door skins are a maybe depending on how it looks when i get it blasted.
both rear quarters were repaired with half quarters which is fine but i think i would rather have the new full quarters since you can see the seems in the trunk and it dosent look like they were done well. the rear panel is filled with mud, and the previous owner installed a sunroof:mad:
also the whole left floor pan is replaced. but i'm going to put a one peice floor in. after the body work is done the fun stuff should start.
my friend who has been doing body work since the 60's said he would restore the whole body, frame and suspension if i give him the LS6 with a gasket kit, but i won't give it up so i guess i'll have to pay:)

heres a pic under the hood. kinda a mess. i have the original a/c comprerssor and lines still also.
