some might remember i was involved in a winter project building a twin turb0 31 roadster.. as it turned out i ended up welding everything.. ive even designed the fan/scoop for the intercooler... ill repost most of the pics as i couldnt find the original thread...

oh yeah, fi anyone is wondering, the manifolds are from Schwartz, torbos are garett, and wastegates are turbosmart, the rest is made by yours truely!

there is even one of a trade secret... this way there is no way to pop the hose off at boost..

here is one of the car on the road... as you can see by the color of the exhaust.. 18 pounds of boost does generate some heat... and speed :D

That looks like a project. I have a question. Why an LT? Not saying you should have done an LS or anything, but dont the LT's have there fair share of problems when you boost them?

if it were my personal car, i would have done an LSx or a BBC, but the guy had a procharged LT4 installed and wanted more boost and less whine and belt issues so we simply rebuilt the engine with a forged crank, some crower rods and forged pistons and some trick flow heads... so the engine choice wasnt mine, i just thought id share the build as turbos aer so popular on this site and the parts were bought at a supporting vendor...

also the choice to use an FMU instead of a standalone EFI isnt one id make either, but that wasnt my call either...

thanx for the thumbs up on the intercooler setup... and how does it run... like a muthafuker... the converter is a little to tight, so we are installing a 3000 rpm stall unit to get some better 60 foot times (they are in the 1.6 range now.. prety good with an IRS).. but from 2500 rpm on the highway it will just pull like a stink..

the previous setup with procharger seemed to need some rpmīs and would run out of steam.. but thsone just pulls like a diesel from hell and keeps going

Those cast log type exhaust/turbo manifolds have to make the project much easier than building customs ones.

amen... also at moderate boost levels, they do a better job of retaining heat in the exhaust gas so it will deliver be at boost early, also they arent as prone to cracking as tubular headers are (so im told) also they are about 75% less expensive...

100% tru! Awsome work. That thing must be light weight and with that engine:woot:

Any videos ?

actually its almost 2900 lbs, but thats with jaguar IRS, 700R4 tranny, leather interior, stereo and so on... but a cam and head lt4 with 18 pounds of intercooled boost and 98 octane does get things mooving especially on drag radials and a 3.55 rear gear and a 700r4 low 1īst..

im uploading a vid ill post soon

here is a vid.. not very good, but its a video no less

its the turbo 31 roadster in the far lane... the one nearest to the camera is a vortech blown 32 roadster.. both were in the low 11´s on an unprepaired track, leaving the line from idle.. (the 32 went on to run 10.01 on boost and spray later btw)

but i still think low 11´s si prety good for a first day out, no tuning, no testing, no burnout or trackbite...

i talked to Jeff Schwartz about just that a couple of months back and he said he weld up a pair of log style LS1 headers if you supplied the dimensions i think he charges 1-1.5K... he even sells turbos at fair prices, so you can even order correctly sized turbos at the same time..
