We rented the Camarrilo Airport on thursday filming the end of Hot Rod Tv thats going to be on espn2 in june Back dropping the F-bomb with some b17's 24's and 25's and finally got a chance to stretch the wings out on the f-bomb we were having an awesome time we actually were laying 1000 ft burn outs at only 12.5 psi for real .I'll post some pics.So i decided to call my brother who has a high 11 second Ferrari ,So we could eat it up on Camera.Well we torn a new asshole in the Ferrari only to realize we didn't have enough room to stop.I tried slowing the car down but the hydraboost and skinnys don't mix at speed i tried pulse the pedal to not lock up that much but i soon realized it was either lock them up or crash. So i locked up the brakes soon after popped both front tires the car came down on the control arms and Dave and I went 100 mph slideways into a water barrier .The Bomb and Dave and I came out with minor damage just folded a fender and popped 2 tires. My brother told me at the end of the day you may have put a city block on my car accelerating but i'm driving my car home.Heres some pics http://namtramedia.com/clients/nre/ftp/116small.jpg

at least it was doing what it does, and not sitting at a red light.

Dave jinxed himself. Didn't he say in Hot Rod it was only a matter of time before he stuffed into the guardrail at the track or spun at Bonneville?
Glad to see you guys are ok and the car is relatively unhurt. What a week for cars...

sorry to hear about the crash, and im glad it seems so fixable, but you said somthing about not being able to stop on skinnies... but isnt that why the car is equiped with a shute???
anyway, glad everyone is ok.. and lets all hope the bad luck ends here..

Was the Parachute not a viable option when things got out of hand?
Sorry about your car, twice in two days, I'm glad neither of you got hurt.

Tom....I echo what has been said. Glad you and Dave are ok and minimal damage done. Not bad for 100 MPH antics...two wheels, one fender and two pairs of shorts:lol: I hope someone got a shot of Freiburgers face. I'm sure the look was pricelist. Cant wait to hear the story from him.

Glad you guys were OK. Sorry but I have to ask . . . Did you drop an F-Bomb or two when you were running out of track? :D
TOM NELSON
05-08-2007, 08:56 AM
The chute wasn't an option we relocated the chute so we could fill the gas tank in the stock location. We noticed it was wrong a day or two before the Film date so we left it alone and fiqured we were just putzing around it wouldn't be needed. The accident would have been easily preventable if i would have just not got caught up in the moment.and given myself more room to stop.the power just felt to good. What can i say I'm a numb nuts.
Thats one hell of a story! Glad everyone is okay...but like you said. Just battle scars while putting the car through its paces.
So how did the car run, Tom? Is there any way in hell David will get it to hook? Did you find any bugs that need to be sorted out?

The car ran awesome we need to run the secondary pump pick up further back in the tank it was picking up some air in the tank under hard accel but otherwise it was great fun. With a time based boost controller it should hook pretty good i think 8.50's should be Doable it's wild 2 speeds in a small block and it feels like a 900 inch the car flat gets with the program we were rolling into 50mph burnouts for the show hope they show that footage.

Hollywood Tom - definitely have stunt man in your veins. Glad you and Dave are alright. That thing is a trip. Thinkin' you have all that space and then...holy $#!t :woot:,that barrier is coming up fast. Nice burnouts. Hope that all makes it on Hot Rod TV. Air dates ?
Stay away from fighter jets wildman...

Sorry to hear of your crash. Glad both of you emerged unscathed. I look forward to seeing footage of the front tires popping. Hate to be the one who says "I told you so...", but the pro-touring ethos of BALANCE applies to your top end car as well. Is there any reason NOT to run a 235 or 245 front tire as standard equipment? Would they really hurt E.T's at all? A tenth or two?
I'd be interested in seeing you guys make a coupla 8 second passes Some on pizza cutters and some on wider tires--not too wide. I'm curious because we are about to update a pro streeter at my shop with some pro-touring equipment. As we improve the "streeter" side of the equation, we will take away from the "pro" side. The hard part is finding a balance.
Sorry for being critical, but I really wanna know: Would somewhat wider front tires really hurt E.T.s or make the car hard to drive at the drags?

Glad the car is not too bad.. but guys... even just running in a straight line that car is very fast and if I recall the car has a full cage. A million things could happen to cause you problems in a car with that kind of HP...You really should be wearing helmets at the very least... you could have crowned your head on the roll cage..... belts and bodies can get very elastic in an incident
