These guys built the generals for the movie of the Dukes a couple of years ago..
Its like everytime I watch "Michael Carrot Jockson auction" I just want to puke. Its like the real cars with the real history, skill and craftmanship gets overlooked and the weird and stupid stuff gets these bone heads a woody the size of the Titanic...
I have no problem with money and the rich.... But I know more rich stupid people who I just can't figure out how they got rich with no brains.... I don't mean all of them but you know the half I am talking about... Guess if you sell your soul to the devil, it comes with "money for nothin and chicks for free." easier...
Well I guess I am out of line.... I appologize if I am out of line here....

By requiring pre-approved bidders now, that lend some credibility that the $2 million is legit.
still, WOW!!!

Yeah I saw a picture of her not too long ago. Looks like she has been living in the south, siting in the sun drinking whiskey all day long.

Blessings,
You're not out of line at all IMHO. I totally understand what you mean. It is sad to see the butchering of so many classic muscle cars. I have been to these guys' car lot, it is near the Volo Auto Museum in the Chicago area. Their "shop" consists of a couple of outdoor lifts. They were building several General Lees while I was there. Most of the cars were only semi-finished (shoddy interiors, paint, etc.), and already sold, at prices of $20-30 grand. It was cool to see a whole parking lot full of General Lees but they were in states of repair that most of us would still call "project cars." The guys were also in the process of building some Mustang fastbacks in the tradition of the Bullit mustang to try to capitalize off the new remake of the movie that was supposed to come out.
They seemed like cool guys and I can't blame them for what they are doing, because it's actually really smart. The quality (or lack thereof) of the finished product is attributable to the market demand. These guys are selling the cars before they can get them finished. I still think it's crazy to pay $30k for an incorrect year, engine, wheel, etc. movie car repro, but there are plenty of guys with money (as well as movie studios) who want them. I couldn't help thinking that some of those Chargers would make great pro-touring projects instead of movie clones though...:)

hmmm... I dont know. This is the article emailed to me.
John Schneider's personal General Lee, the 1969 Dodge Charger from the "Dukes of Hazzard," sold today on eBay for a shock-absorbing $9,900,500.00! Car-ching!
The sale marks the second highest finish for an auto auction, the first being the $11 million 1987 sale by Christie's of a 1931 Bugatti originally owned by the Bugatti family. The General Lee was purchased by William Fisher, owner of knifecollectors.com. Schneider, who played Bo Duke in the series, is currently starring in his own family film called "Collier & Co. -- Hot Pursuit!"
Schneider tells TMZ, "It just proves that when you clean out your garage, be very, very careful about what you throw away!"
The eBay page of the General Lee auction received over one million hits during the week-long listing. Schneider is taking the car on Saturday for one last spin, to fulfill a Reel Angels wish for an ill child who wanted a ride.

The top bidder was a fraud. The car will be back for sale again either in an auto auction, or online again.
