This a copy of an email sent to Steve at Twist Machine. Thought I might post it here as well.

Steve,

Put a few more evalution miles into the Syclone before I start messing
around with changing things. Couple of Q's.

1)The T-Com software shows a gear indicator. Any way of integrating this
feature into small display box that would house both the hardware and the
software to display the selected gear. Scanmaster made a small box for the
Buick GN guys to display a few select important engine parameters from the
ECM this way.

2)Am I supposed to be in 4 gear or 3rd gear when using the shrifter? If I
have shrifter switch on and have the gear shift lever in 3 and I turn off
the shrifter switch, will the trans revert to auto mode in 3rd?

3)Just to be sure I understand this correctly, there is no way for the
shrifter to shift into 1st when moving even when driving at low speed in
2nd gear? I see it always defaults to 1st when coming to a stop.

4)3rd gear shift has a long delay in manual mode. I assume from our
previous phone discussion, I will be able to shorten the shift time from
2nd to 3rd gear when tweak the parameters in the T-Com?

5)Is there engine braking in manual mode?

6)I want to make sure my TC switch is working properly. I adapted the
stock switch to my new CNC brake pedal system. I can't feel the TC
unlocking when I hit the brakes. Does the T-Com software show this switch
activate/deactivate when I depress/press the brake pedal?

Thanks again!

Adam

And here are the anwers that I emailed.

1) TCI is working on a display. So is BigStuff.

2)Either gear select works. 3rd gear engage the overrun clutches to provide some engine braking.

3)You will set downshift parameters in the software. "Do no downshift into 1st gear above X mph" If you accidentally downshift too far, it will feel like you are in neutral and then you will tap up.

4)Take note of the throttle position and increase line pressure at that point.

5)Only with the gear selector in 3rd. GM designed OD without overrun clutches in OD to maximize fuel mileage. There is no work around. Put the gear selector in 3rd and/or Increase your rear brake bias to compensate for the lack of compression braking. With the 4L60E is it possible to modify the valvebody for increased engine braking in 3rd. Not yet available for the 80. Also, you can mess around with automatic downshift speeds in the software.

6)No brake pedal. TCC is based on wheel speed. You should have plugged the TCC into itself to create a loop. When the TCU sees wheel speed approach zero, it automatically unlocks. Lock-up engagement is user definable based on mph.

Good questions. Another coupla weeks and you will make one hell of a hot rod manumatic salesman. There are limitations to the current technology, but every single user thoroughly enjoys the product.
