I finally got to drive my Camaro with its DSE mini-tub and new subframe. Just got back from the Spring Grand Run in Pigeon Forge Tenn. First off I would like to thank Jeff Peters and his dad for all the hard work with the tubs, floor, and subframe install. Jeff did a hell of a job on my Camaro and I would highly recomend him for any work. Also, a thanks to Frank at Prodigy for the deal on my Forgelines.

Very nice indeed - Great stance and good looking overall.

I would love to know what donor car the power brake booster and master cylinder is from. I'm looking to do something very similar when I redo my 68's brakes. I also love the semi-flat/semi-gloss (not sure which) black under the hood.

Thanks!

I saw this car in person here at the Grand Run this past weekend. All I can say is WOW! The total package is just killer. I too am partial to the wheels, but they do look FINE on this car.
Great work guys.

Thanks for the kind words Vance. It was truly a pleasure getting to work on such a nice car.

This thing sure does handle. That subframe is a work of art. Kudos to the Tucker's and their gang.

Now get out there and drive it!!

Oh, nice meeting you Bill.

The booster/master looks like the Detroit Speed booster/master combo:

GeoffP, Sorry for the slow response, I work lots. The booster and master cylinder are DSE pieces. The paint is Eastwood. It has a factory look to it. Kinda shinny kinda grey. Oh, by the way thanks for all the compliments on my car and if anyone needs a set of wheels call Frank at Prodigy!:hail:

What wheels and tires are you running? Would you mind posting the sizes and Back space also. They look killer!

What is the width of your rear end?:unibrow:

Thanks,

Sorry for the slow response. I was off last week and have been playing catch up at work. Wheels are Forgeline VR3P 18x10 with 6.125 backspace on the front. 18x12 with 6.125 backspace on rear. Call Frank at Prodigy for a killer deal. Tires are Michelin Pilots 275/35/18 front, 335/30/18 rear. The booster/ master cylinder assembly is from DSE.

Sixtnine,

Did you have to modify your headers at all to fit the DSE clip? I'm trying to figure out header options on my project with DSE clip.

Thanks.

jpdeuce
04-27-2007, 02:19 PM
The headers are Hooker Super Comp #2131, 1 3/4" full length. We didn't have to make any modifications. There is about 1/2" clearance between the steering shaft and tubes using the stock 69' column.

The Hooker 1 7/8" will definetely need some reworking to make them fit.

One Sixtynine if dont mind.. I had no plans for goind aftermarket sub but now -Thanks to Steve:thumbsup: - i think i will. Can you describe your cars ride ,steering and handling ? Btw did you have QL or leafs at back??

Before this winter transformation I had a stock subframe with DSE uppers, lower bushings, a late model IROC Z steering box and Hotchkis swaybar. Stock multi-leaf 12 bolt setup in rear with KYB gas shocks. The ride I felt, was great, not harsh at all. Now, with the subframe, mini-tub, and larger wheel/tire combo I would have to honestly say the car probably rides smoother than before. The steering is extremely quick. It is insane how well the car handles now. If you get a chance ride in a Camaro that has an aftermarket frame. If you like to corner you will definately be hooked.

Sixtnine.. I havent really slept for a while after your posting:unibrow:

I had a clear vision how to build my stock sub and had promised my self never go to aftermarket sub,and at least not to the most expensive one..

And now all i have in my mind is DSE clip and 285 front wheel:willy:

Could you post some clear light pictures of your engine compartment so i could see how the engine and fenders fit to the subframe. If you prefer to email em to me you got my address in your pm box .

Now that you have the DSE suspension under your car, have you had a chance to run some proper performance numbers on it?

I'd be very interested in finding out just, "How Good", a Camaro can handle.

Thanks,

TY O'Neal

Sorry for the slow response. I will try to take some good engine bay pics by Monday. As far as performance numbers there are not any road race tracks close. I am a drag racer at heart who wanted to make my Camaro handle. Would like to see if there is any road course event this fall in Pigeon Forge. The videos from last year look like lots of fun.
