Ok, one of the first times I was in my car and went to stop very fast the car died and my hydroboost lost pressure and just about lost the ability to stop. I was lucky. Now the car is back in the shop with a completely different set up yet this still very much bugs me in the back of my mind. It's a holly carb set up, and would like to be able to run the car as fast as I like and have the ability to stop quickly without it shutting off, making my brakes useless. What can we do to fix this? Will a mechanical pump help with this Jody?

How's your float level.

It was at the stock setting, whatever that was at the time. Now the motor is boosted with a hat, so I don't know if this will hurt it or help it.

are you using a mechanical or electric fuel pump?

That's being changed, I think it was a Holley as it was LOUD. With the return line and other fuel stuff with the supercharger, we are putting another one in. From what I understand, fuel slosh in deceleration is causing fuel to jump out and pop back in the carb opening causing it to stall at idle engine speeds. I believe this too be true, but I don't what this happening again. Very scary.

I have a 69 firebird procharged. Only ran it with the carb for a short time. Could never get it to run right. Went to f.i. and never looked back. I know alot of people are running carbs with no problems. Did you send your carb out to be modded? Csu is the best I hear.

The carb is being lightly modded at Campbell Auto, but nothing over the top or anything. I was thinking of going with a Holley ultra, but the carb tuning is going to be key. As far as the stalling, I'm still worried about it.

What did they do to the carb? If you go to turbomustangs.com you can down load directions to mod it. It's pretty involved. Thats what I did with mine.

Here you go. I would start there so you can be sure your carb is done right to start. That could be your problem. Do you have a a.f. gauge to check on w.o.t pulls?

Mine does that. It's a byproduct of those wonderful pro-touring negative g's. I avoid it by blipping the throttle after applying the brake. I also enlarged my idle transfer slots, raised my front float level and made sure that my rear brake bias is adjusted properly. If none of that helps, buy a nitrophyl float and shave the front of it just a little. You will need to seal the shaved area with some fuel resistent "dope"

It's a pro-touring tuning issue. No matter what carb you buy, you will most likely need to make the same adjustments.

I put a spark plug boot over the rear vent pointing backwards to prevent fuel slosh from stalling my car.

That was brought up as a possible bandaid, buit I now have the supercharger hat. Might not be enough room.

That reminds me...Is your carburetor boost referenced?

In progress now. Yes it will be.
