Well, it's been a long time, and we FINALLY found our donor car (yesterday!)....It's a 1971 Nova (yep, another Nova!) that'll get some Camaro sheetmetal and assorted other goodies from a '69 model. You may recognize the rendering from my artwork page here (thanks, Scott! ), and yes, we are going to go at it full steam...
http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h81/flyingpolock/pnthrbig.jpg

I have chosen a shop in the mid-west for the brunt of the fab work that my wife and I can't do ourselves, and will post pics of the donor car soon (not much to look at right now....)
In any event, I envisioned this car back in high school, originally, and am finally going to realize it in steel... the house is buzzing with excitement here, and the whole family is behind it 100%....
Preliminary plan is a 302, cross-ram, T-5 and a 9-inch (we wanted a nod to the classic DZ 302 Z/28, and we'll run a bench seat, just because it looks so different. The vinyl top is still out for debate, and was originally penned in to keep things looking a bit more, well, "factory".
Look for updates as I pull my hair out.

Nice, I was hoping you were gonna build this. That is one hell of a slick mod!

WOW, I love the RS idea. What a original concept! This thing is going to be hot. Looks like you'll be calling GPSuperStore.com for lots a goodies.

Good luck.

I had to do a double-take as well. Should be a cool project, Brian. Which shop is doing the fab work?

Thanks everyone! We're stoked about this moving ahead (OK, wife is tired of 10+ years of "Someday I'm gonna do this"), and I'll properly announce the shops involved very soon... (I will say that Jeff (3kidsnotime) is going to be a major player with the engine (YFRJ! ), as his skill is well documented... and besides, he nailed just what I wanted in one shot), and we're taking a different approach with the wheel and tire combo than are shown here, which I'll post an updated version later on...
Ben, thanks man.... glad it's all happening.
...and yes, I do believe we'll be regulars at the GP Super Store!

So is the hole front clip going to be '69 Camaro?

It'll be spliced in at the doors and fenders. The area at the cowl/A-pillar is a bit tricky, but I think you'll enjoy our solution.

That is going to be one awesome ride when it is said and done!

Well, it'll be unique, that's for sure.

Good on ya, Brian!! I've been dying to see that car come to life since you showed it to me a year ago. I'm glad you're getting to build it instead of a customer. I love my customers but got to keep one for yourself and that's exactly the one to keep!

I have to vote to nix the vinyl top though!

Brian, I forgot to tell you the other day that I have a ton of trim I want to get rid of including used vinyl roof trim, brand new drip rails and new rocker moldings. I was gonna use it on mine, but plans changed. Gimme a call if you want it.

I just remembered you saying that you want a "factory look".

I can't wait to see this.

Seems a bunch of had a Nova in High School or had a buddy that had one. My best friend growing up had a Nova and we had to make block for the bench seat so we could see over the dash.

Love the rendering can't wait to see it.

Thanks so much guys.... Ben, the offer's great, but I think I'm going to listen to the wife -- and Jason too! -- and nix the vinyl top idea. We'll share build pics as we go, and hopefully it'll be as fun as we think!
Anyway, here's the actual final rendering for the front (new stripe, color, etc etc etc....)
I'm saving the rear view for later... We're wavering between a few small details out back yet...
Anyway, thanks for the positive feedback so far! Thankfully, it's looking as though we'll be able to please the Nova and Camaro camps, and finally realize this dream.

Project Nomaro???? I Think It Is Way Cool, I Have A 71 Ventura With A 69 Nova Clip, We Call It The Noviac, I Like Halfbreeds And Your Project Is Taking That To A New Level. Can't Wait To See It Coming Together, It Is Definitely An Original, Can't Say I Have Ever Thought Of Or Heard Of That Kind Of Mix.

Funny you mention that, I was considering replacing the front clip of my 70 Nova with a 74 Ventura/"GTO" nose and modifying that huge bumper.
