View Full Version : Question about a 68 Mustang California Special?

Ok, I have been looking at these cars for a little bit now. They are not that pricey at this time, but wanted to pick the brains here at Lateral-G. For some reason I think these cars will go up in value, but I'm not buying one as an out and out investment. I'm buying something I can tinker with, and something that will RETAIN its value. Id like to put a little work into it to make it look factory and stock, but more so to enjoy. There is one in my area that is dirt cheap, and one on the net that is a numbers matching rare 390 4V that I'm also looking at. I guess my question is that, is this a good car/solid car, but something that should retain its value if in good to excellent shape?

I also used to think they would go up in value but they really haven't done much over the years. You could get them with a 6 cylinder. Basically just a dress up package. Jody might bite if you find a 6 cylinder tough.

Hey Charlie. I was kind of looking for a car that I could drive with the wife on weekends and enjoy as well as making sure the car doesn't depreciate in value. I don't mind putting money into my cars as long as they don't lose money. If I had a 6, I might pro tour the thing. I'm going to start collecting cars but some cars need to stay stock, and some I can modify. Ill just be a junior version of you. :unibrow:

Sounds like a good enough reason to at least update the suspension and lay it out on a set of 18s! Not like you're mollesting a GT 500.....

I don't think any popular musclecar bought right will lose value. May not gain much, but I consider any old vehicle I buy an investment simply because it does not depreciate like a new car will.
