I want my engine compartment to look as clean as possible, so I plan to run the plug wires underneath the headers on my BBC build. Has anyone done this? If so, can you share some pics and give me some pointers? Thanks.

Run them underneath from behind and use wire seperators. By using 8.5 wires the combonation of "stiffness" and seperators will hold them in place under the tubes. It also depends on what type of header you use. The orange car had full tube headers and the green car had block huggers. It is nearly impossible to do with the block huggers because of the tube configuration.
Note the difference here:

Tucked under and hidden:

Run down the side of the valve cover but on top of the headers:

Thanks Steve, both look great! I will be running mid length headers. Hopefully I will have the room to run them underneath.

Sweet! I'm guessing you purchased a "terminate your own" kit, or does someone make them like that?

Absolutely.... otherwise you'd never be able to snake them around that long of a distance.

There are BBC plug wire kits available that are ideal for under header applications. Like in Fotoboy's application, the MSD HP500EFI kit is designed to be run under the headers and the lengths are perfect. When I ran my plug wires under the headers, I was using motor plates and kept them tight to the block using a mount off the stock motor mount bolt holes. I was using coated Casler headers and never had any problems with burnt boots.

Thanks. I will check out the MSD kit. Coated headers are definitely the way to go.

Easy, just take your time to make it right and mount all wires for good.

I did it and set my brand new MSD wires on FIRE!!!

I was wanting to do this also and have seen wires clamped together (as in pic above) or even wire tied together without using wire seperators. It makes the clearence issues a little better when they are bundled like that, but will this not eventually cause a problem with the wires arcing across each other??

I have run my wires under the headers for over a year now and have not burned a set of wires yet. When I was running them over the heads I went through 2 sets in less than a year. I am using the thundervolt wires(10mm). I have them zip tied together and some of them pulled up against the block to keep them off the headers. I used this set up on my 468 and now on my ZZ502 with no problems
