Rotor application problems

Hey everybody,

I am really hoping that I can get some help on this! Okay- so here's the deal:

I bought a stock style power disc brake conversion kit for the '61 Impy. It uses what I believe to be GM intermediate rotors and calipers, and is bolted to the stock Impala spindles with the help of a bracket.

The problem is, the rotor pushes the front wheels out too far. The disc has a 1 inch thickness, and the 'hat' or center of the rotor is 2.5 inches thick. When you turn the wheel sharp, the tires will definately hit the fenders. Unfortunately changing wheel offset will not help as the car is extremely low.

Is there another GM rotor that has a shorter 'hat' and offer the same bearing spacing?

Fwiw, the hat only pushes the wheels out about .175" on each side overall vs drums.. This is b/c the thickness of the rotor at the flange is only like .3" or so vs about .125" or so for a drum...

I figure your rim's backspacing isn't deep enough is the problem.

Thanks PDQ67. I have been searching for different rotors and now I am down to a couple last resort options before I send the wheels back (the current wheels have a nice looking offset). The first thing I have to do is raise the car about an inch. It's awefully low right now. Then, I'll have our bodyshop guy come over and roll the fender lips. Then, I gues we'll have to see if things clear!!!
