well after saying no more project till we get the 57chevy,33ford,36ford,41willys finished , i again have let my tug boat mouth overload my seamboat ass .
we are taking on a 69 camaro for sema 07 , it will have a new zl1 502 all alluminum bigblock , with a hogan style intake , heidt's front sub ( already there not by our choice ) it also has a heidt's rear ,that's not staying .
20x10 and 19x8 1 off budnik wheels . jason rushforth will be doing the artwork and help with design and colors .
i will load some photos of the start as soon as i go buy a good camera ( i know marty will be happy about that ) .

so now all i have to do is go eat crow about a camaro being in my shop ! lol

I have a question for "Mr. Steamboat Ass". Since this car will need to be finished by SEMA, does this mean I can have the boat this summer? Doesn't look like you will have time to enjoy it.

Guys, I know the car and what the owner is looking for as an end result. By the time Kenny and Trav get done, it should be one badass ride.

i will load some photos of the start as soon as i go buy a good camera ( i know marty will be happy about that ) .

my advise

1. if it cost less the a set of valve covers it's junk
2. If you get a good deal from a friend it's probably not a good deal.
3. Okay that is enough abuse
4. Buy a Canon as they work great in low light (your shop)
5. Buy a Tri-Pod that way you don't have to worry about happy hands

ps - yep i will be very happy

TravisB

yes they were 454ci. they use a 454 crank and gm#'s show 510hp / 500ft lbs but like in the 60's "Real World" numbers reflect more like 530hp / 493ft lbs. And only 200 (i think) were produced for sale.

You got that right! The hardest part of a 69 is getting it low. The motor is set in to damn low and the fenders aren't wide enough in front to turn the tire without rubbing. Other than that it's a piece of cake...

Parts have been coming in daily for the camaro. I have been working on it on and off for the last two weeks. We have our morrison front sub in mock up waiting the on the headers. The Lateral Dynamics (www.lateral-dynamics.com) 3 link rear suspension is about 90% completed and I must say for a weld in kit it is awesome. Everything fits and works the way its supposed to. I would reccomend this kit to anyone, the guys over at lateral dynamics (mark and crew) have designed a very killer set up. Easy to install and goes in exactly as shown and the craftsmanship is second to none. Jason Rushforth (www.jasonrushforth.com) has been working with www.evodindustries.com for the 18' and 19' one off wheels. The artwork and wheels will not be shown until right before SEMA. We have a paddle shifter for the manual tremec trans, brakes, airride, fuel tank, some DSE goodies, etc etc . Interior will be done by Tracy Weaver of the recovery room in Nebraska. The car will be displayed in the Nitrous Express booth at SEMA.

stay tuned this project will pick up the pace as we close in on our deadline.

How are you setting up the Paddle Shifter with the Tremac?
Who makes the shifter parts, or is this a one-off piece?

Thanks,

I saw a thread on this shifter setup on one of the sites. If I recall correctly, it does not have anything to do with the clutch actuation, so you still have to work the clutch pedal as if you were shifting with the normal shift lever. What it does is allow you keep both hands on the wheel, clutch, pull on the up/down shift paddle. Or I guess you could just hold your right foot down, pull the paddle and hope for the best
:)

I'm interested to see how it works. It would take some practice - at least for me to remember to not reach for the shifter handle!

Later,

Brandon

yes you still have to clutch, you can pull the shift paddle 1 to 4 times then the next time you clutch the car it will shift 1 to 4 gears at a time . so if you want to shift from 1st to 3rd , pull the shifter 2 times then clutch . we are about to start mounting the system , i will keep you informed how it works .

Outstanding job on the rear suspension install, guys. Looks great from my vantage point. And yes, if you need to notch the frame, it's going to be really, REALLY low!!! Should make quite a statement.

Travis was cool enough to share some of the details of the build, which I was told to keep in strict confidence. Which I am. But it's tough, because the car has some really neat ideas and features, hard to not just blurt it all out. I have confidence that it will be one of the very coolest Camaros ever built (and not just because we are part of the build...). Can't wait to see it in person.

Great job guys!

it may end up polished by the time we are done. The only thing that bothers us about it is to muched polished...the motor was done when we got the car alrad yapinted and chromed. Had we had anything to do with it you would be looking at a completely BRUSHED BBC from top to bottom.

I'm diggin your "stealth" black & white photos !

I had an issue with getting a B&M "off the shelf" linkage piece to work on an AOD. We installed it as per the manufacturers destructions and even spent numerous hours on the phone with them. Bottom line, we took the trans apart and flipped the shaft 180 degrees and fab'd a bracket. Works fine. But the manufactures directions were wrong and they we're clueless. :faint:

Any interior in-progress pics you can share with us Kenny or Tracy ?

Nothing too revealing - just a tease to get us drooling for more.

The inside of K D's camaro is a whole diffrent theme than J2's car, which is a good thing, would get boring doing the same thing over and over. This one is going to be diffrent because of the rear area.I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out(real happy)

I saw the car this morning.....It is absolutly awesome. unlike ay intierior I have seen in a camaro yet. Tracy definalty stepped up. He is one the only interior guys I know that can do any style the customer wants and nail it every time. It doesnt matter if its street rod, street machine, vintage, OEM looking......you name it.

If anyone tries to get a hold of me I will be behind a buffer for the next 10 days or so.....ha ha
