I'm having hard time cleaning my vette's sidepipes. I was wondering if someone
would have a gentel way of cleaning those chromed pipes??? And my sidepipes are hooker's pipes.

Not really... just sand, mud and dirt! And all it seems to be pretty well burn on the surface! I though that just washing it away would do it, but then there is the big danger to scrats them baaaadly! Or am I wrong!

try some vinegar on a polishing cloth.. thats what i use to clean every car i touch.. then i step it up to some dx330(wax and grease remover) and even super clean (alcohol based) if i have to .. you may put some light scratches in it cleaning them but some wheel polish and a power ball from mothers will bring them back to looking like new.. hell wd40 and fine steel wool will work too.. sounds like you would be scratching it but i know for a fact that it works.. we use the steel wool and wd on my bosses gold wing.. and if he'll let you touch his gold wing with it it cant be bad..
