Installed the Modo Innovations electric trunk latch on Saturday (in my Camaro). Thought I would give my review.
1. Took less than an hour to do (with wiring)
2. I needed NOTHING that wasn't in the kit - every screw, wire crimp and part is included. That's a nice touch.
3. I did the install with only three tools: 7/16 ratchet, phillips screwdriver and a wire crimper.
4. I works like a dream.

Note on the wiring.. there's only ONE wire.. you don't even have to screw with a ground wire. The only flaw I could find, if I had to be picky, was that he TRUNK sticker on the included bezel wouldn't stay stuck. Didn't matter since I hid the button and didn't use the bezel, but still needed to be mentioned.
Now it will be an easy deal to fill my gas tank up (it's filled in the trunk)
Big thumbs up to Modo Innovations for a really nice and nicely put together product.
Cool. I have one of these waiting to go in my car.

Very cool. What does that thing run for price-wise ??

The latch mechanism is pretty cool. It's bigger than that stock on but fit fine in the area.
It's one of the few luxuries in my car, my only power option besides power steering. I figure it would be nice to be able to open the trunk with jerking with the key (I don't have an ignition key).

That's cool. I was thinking of getting that kit as I have their pedals and they are of top quality as well. Maybe we should have a "new product releases" section on the site? Thoughts?
Ill be buying this kit myself.

What I like was how "complete" the kit was.. the easy part was a bonus.. lol
Yea, like a press release section.. hmmm

Thanks for the review Steve. I was getting one of these through Frank for my car. I have the fuel cell in the trunk. Sounds like the right product.

Does this one draw the trunk closed when you touch the latch (ala Cadillac Fleetwood or 3rd gen Camaro) or does it latch in one click?

No, we all thought it would be very cool if it did but the electronics only pop the latch open and latches in one click.
That would be the next step for the product, but I'm sure it would add a bunch of $$$ to the price.

It would be very cool of you have a Trans Am type spoiler and you want the spoiler close to the quarters when closed. We lay a couple of micro fiber rags of the quarter on Prodigy when we close the trunk or else the spoiler bangs the paint. The only other choices are a drawing latch or let the wing fly higher over the quarter panels.
Still, this blows away the typical after market soliniod systems.

I looked at doing a "draw close latch" but the 67-68 filler neck is the issue.
Not alot of room in that area.
Steve,
Thank you for the nice review.

Steve I second your remarks a quality product. We put one in our 63 Galaxy as well. Nice work Shannon!

So will this set-up work with just about any trunk latch ?
Like a 70 Barracuda ??

You could always do one for a 69 :)
Nice product!

Ned we just fabricated a lower mount for the latch, and the upper tab just need two holes and nut plates. A couple of hours taking your time and your done.

Thanks Frank.
I looked at and tried several different mechanisms, modified factory latches and added solenoids. This kit took a little over a year to develop. In fact, I worked on this before I even started Modo Innovations.
Thanks again to all for the nice comments.

I just picked up the May issue of "Camaro Performers" and read a nice piece titled "Easy Access". It is about Steve Rupp's install of our latch in "Penny".:woot:
Thanks for the nice article Steve, you are the man.

The install was so simple that it was hard to stretch it to 3 pages.. lol..
great product and glad you liked the story. I like doing stories on inexpensive upgrades you can do in a day or afternoon. I think readers do as well.
You will see my name in just about every Camaro Performers from now on.
I'm diversifying.. lol
