What are the rust prone areas? I'm going to look at one tomorrow. :unibrow: I'm stoked already but don't want to overlook rust spots on this car.

pretty much the same areas as my A-bodies, then huh? The guy is wanting around $3000. 350 with a glide, 12 bolt posi with 4.11 gears. He says he's taken it to the track before and bested a 13.6 in the qtr. I'm already thinking the floorpans will need replacing. But parts are readily available and cheap for Chevys. Unlike Oldsmobiles. Pics sure to come tomorrow.

Rear window channel where the rear glass lay in. Also at the bottom in the same area where the channel meets the package tray and quarter.

of course. I think a running vehicle will do me good. I haven't seen it but I am prepared for the worst. Anybody want a '68 Cutlass?

yeah, I just finished reading your 16 build-book on this page. definitely inspiring. I am so excited about this car. It was one of those deals where the car was across the street where I work and I just called the shop up and asked them "what's up with the 66 Nova at your shop". Long story short I'm going tomorrow with camera in hand to see if the guy really wants the car.

And I'm not superstitious or any thing but: I saw a '66 Mustang today, when I got in from work the temp in the house was 66 degrees, and I'm sure I've thought about this car at least 66 times before I got home.

Figured I'd throw one more in by saying look at the post count you had when you posted. It read "323". If you add the first and last numbers they add up to 6. The 2 means twice! "66"!

Alright, she looks worse than I thought. I'm getting more pics today. Evidently, I was more excited about looking at the car more than they were about showing it. They weren't at work yet. Looks like the passenger side qtr panel is shot. The hood is gone. It will need tires. I'll go back later on in the day. What do you guys think so far?

I think I need to pass on this bad boy. I'd have to replace the complete floorpan & maybe a qtr. What do ya think it's worth offering?

yeah, the guy said when they picked it up it was sitting in a puddle of water. The trunk has probably a 1' diameter hole in it. It also smelt of death.

Do yourself a "Favor"..........Forget about that piece of junk and take the money you would have spent for Rust repair and buy a "Decent" body to start with. ............the rear end in the car has more value that everything else ......................

yeah, I was truly saddened when I saw the car. And to think, he wants $3000. I think that is what made me think the car was in better shape than it was. I mean I was considering selling some of my other projects before I even looked at it. I'm going to just use the money that's itching in my wallet and get back to my '72. It is in far better shape than that nova. And I only paid $600 for it. And it was running.

Guess who called me today? George, the guy that's owns the car, asked me to give him a good price for the car. (I hate when people do this. Tell me what you want for it). I told him with the amount of rust on the car and the stuff that needed to be replaced, I couldn't see more than $300. He said that he was looking to get atleast $1500. :willy: According to him the motor, transmission and rear end are balanced and blueprinted by NASCAR mechanics that he can document. I asked when was the last time the car was driven, he said in '95. Dude have you lost your mind? He said that he could get the qtr panels and floors for about $500 and have the car running for $1500 total, excluding the interior. So if you want $1500 for the car and $1500 to get it running, $3000 should be a good price, right? "Well, if I do all that, I will want more money for it". Atleast $7000. I just don't have the money right now to get started.

Thank you sir, you have a nice day. Thank you for your time. (per Novanutcase)

So tell him to remove & keep the motor, trans, rear end and then GIVE you the car :unibrow:

I wonder what he thought when you told him that!

I don't understand what he was thinking. That car is barely usable as a donor car. There's nothing to donate! Even at $300 basically what you're buying is a vin and a cowl! Everything else will need to be replaced or worked on!
I would be suspect of the driveline and wouldn't even consider taking it with the car!

ha ha ha. Good one. I don't even think I will bother. He was so into the fact that this 12 year old rebuild was worth something. And it possibly could be by some NASCAR mechanics, he did give there names but at that point I wasn't even interested anymore. But the car wasn't driven in 12 years!!!!!!!! Not to say you can't fire it right up but with other Novas that are running starting at $4500, why go through the hassle.

HAHA, I'll check with the guy this weekend when I go to look at this car. He said he wants 7k after he replaces a quarter in the fall this year. I asked him if I could take it now for a lower price and do the work myself since I basically rebuilt the chevelles body ( No biggy). He said yea that would be okay. This was all on the phone. I'll check the car out this weekend and see if he has anything else. And I'll post some pics and more info!

By the way, that guy must be smokin something. I'd take it for $200 or less w/o the motor/trans.

we have a saying at work when we take in a pile of junk in on trade "squish it!:D " I've tried to "fix?" stuff like this (JayR this is where you chime in) it is not worth it, too many decent cars out there still, just takes time ti dig for them. I'd rather spend 2 days with a truck and trailer driving to a dryer climate than a year on my back welding in floors-Chirs
