I've been hanging out on the site for about a year, after member 61Bubbletop(Jeff) recommended I check it out. Lots of neat stuff. Well I finally registered and thought I'd share my project. Not really a true G machine, just something to have a little fun with. Its a 58 Chevy that we got out of some field in Oklahoma, I left the outside of the car pretty much the way I found it other then some missing trim. Its running a Bill Mitchell Hardcore 540, TH400, modified chassis for a one piece driveshaft and lower ride height, airirde,ZO6 brakes, etc. I built the car in a few months strictly to have fun with, mostly with left over parts from other projects, the brakes and wheels that I don't have yet are basically the only parts I had to buy for the project.

Love the stuff on the site, a very knowledgeable bunch and by the look of some of these beautiful machines, some very talented builders.

Very Nice!!! The rusty body kind of has a nice patina to it! With all the talk of getting as much of the rust out it is kind of funny to see soemthing that sort of celebrates it!!

People that came in the shop when it was on the rotisserie were asking what color I was going to paint it. A lot of them found it hard to believe I wasn't going to put it in color.

Especially in the Midwest - we don't get so much patina - mostly just RUST!

Thanks for the kind words guys! There was actually a few reasons for doing the floors this way. Number one there was a little rust in the floors so they were going to need some work regardless. Second the drivestaft tunnel in the factory X frame was raised so the floor's trans tunnel needed to be fabbed which would have made it difficult to use the stock funky floor pans anyways. And for the last reason, I wanted the exhaust tucked up as tight to the body as possible, it actually comes off the headers and instead of coming around the frame like stock it comes through the frame just passed the engine oil pan. This way I can deflate the bags and still have ground clearance.
